The predator seems to be the current fave in that price range. Great sound, great DAC, great convenience features (size, battery life), great quality.- freethegeek

Budget usb/dac + amp for office setup
Predator. I've decided to do the same thing, and have bailed on my x-can. Ray has told me that he runs his predator off AC 24x7, and does not see a reason it would be an issue for the amp or sound quality. {DOH!} sorry i didn't catch the budget in your post...- freethegeek

Best Portable Amp to replace home amp
You said you weren't using it much but were looking to replace it. Why are you replacing it? Are you looking for something more multi-purpose or are you just looking to change things up a little? This thing you are not using looks like a lot more than a headphone amp. and it appears to...- freethegeek

As Good As it Gets? Vcap Review
The vcap LOD only has value inhte system with the iMod. The LOD contains output coupling caps that are necessary to support the 5.5 and earlier versions of the ipod. Your classic is a complete design as is. The coupling caps would actually degrade the sound. The positive thing is that based on...- freethegeek

Krell Interface Doc (KID) for your ipod....
Anybody else come across this?.... http://www.krellonline.com/misc/0269_001_MAN.pdf also mentioned on http://www.avrevforum.com/showthread.php?t=976 (hopefully this is the right forum - amps seemed less appropriate) Besides the 1500$ price tag...there appear to be a lot of...- freethegeek

First UE11 Impressions
Mine fit out of the box.. but as i posted earlier... i had two different audiologists. The first made crappy impressions, and the experience was so bad i didn't see any reason to give them another chance. Subsequently i went to another audiologist on UE's list, that was also directly...- freethegeek

RSA Tomahawk or Hornet for E500
I was in EXACTLY the same dilemna you are. I bought a Hornat and ordered a Xin amp (supermicro). Here was the decision point. - It's immediately avaialble - It fits into my gigabag (it's really pretty darned small) - Of the reviews i've read, it appeared to consistently be liked better...- freethegeek

Reterminate MDRV6 Cable
i've tried the buring thing.. it seems to just destroy the wire. Lacqer thinner didn't seem to work either... I'll have to try some flux... I've gotten a new soldering rig since i tried this a few years ago. Thanx for the reply... BTW the MEK is stuff is a little freaky... reminds me...- freethegeek

Reterminate MDRV6 Cable
I've searched around for this but can't seem to find the magic formula.... The wire appears to be an enamel coated lititz. How does one clean or solder that cable so that one can reterminate a mini pin or 1/4" connector?- freethegeek

Shure SE530 or Triple.fi 10 pro?
Ren0nie0 ton of interesting banter here.... ...one thing i would recommend is that no matter what you buy, i would buy them from a source that allows returns.
