^^^heh, must be something in the water at Oberlin -- two of my best clients are from there, happily married too!

    Ivy League Colleges

This is a funny topic for me, because it puts into contrast what I think versus what I did: I went to Brown as an undergraduate, did an exchange program to Paris with Columbia, and went to graduate school at Harvard. My wife attended Yale. The virtues of such schools are well known, and I...

If I liked Yoshimi will I like Soft Bulletin?

Soft Bulletin > Yoshimi ; although, the highs are higher w/Yoshimi (while the SB is more consistently excellent).

    lost in translation

That movie inspired me to visit Japan with my wife. She used to work in Asia a lot and she found LiT very evocative of her experience in Tokyo. Our trip was magic.

Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robot

I personally put The Soft Bulletin a cut above Yoshimi, and both several cuts above Clouds. The Soft Bulletin is a greater record, but there's no doubt Yoshimi is more fun.

    Senn HD650 + Amp

Another vote for a CORDA amp. I run Senn HD650s with a PREHEAD. It's nice.

Meier Audio - Corda : What happened? No one interested?

    1. Great post by Jan. Seriously, folks, he's a pleasure to deal with (but you do have to provide your own power cord). 2. Sunbyrne, I don't get the same anti-marriage vibe on the boards as you -- maybe folks are just jealous of your hobby-supportive wife? 3. I bought a CORDA w/o an...

    "All-nighters" are heinous!

I'm up all night right now to finish my work and chores before a long trip. It sucks. I used to pull all nighters all the time in graduate school. However, the amount of quality time spent on projects dramatically decreased as the night wore into the day -- it was always a mixed bag to stay...

    Did you see "Sideways" yet?

FWIW I thought the picture was terrible. I didn't care at all about the characters or the problems of their own making. Apart from some very funny scenes the whole thing was a desert of self-indulgence. Just my opinion, of course -- among my friends I'm in a distinct minority with this view.

Sharper Image went after Consumer Reports for saying much that has been said in this thread, but lost in court and paid CR's legal fees: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...&type=business Sounds like an outfit to stay away from.

Going back for another undergraudate degree. Foolish?

    1. Sure undergraduate is about learning, but it is also like camp, and at a certain point you're too old for camp (there are important exceptions that prove the rule). Repeating undergradutate might make sense for a segue into medicine, but business? 2. Pyschology is one of those "could mean...
