What is the best PC software for listening to music? Is there even difference between the output quality of different softwares?

Are you using an amp/what amp are you using? Your other HPs may not require as much power

What's the best "first-timer" planar magnetic to try

I hope you're right and we get to learn together about what worm headphones are. Perhaps it shall be coined our new phrase for headphones that burrow into your mind and get you addicted to planars. EDIT: As an on topic note, I think the HE-400i or 560 would be a good jumping in point. T50RP's...

Haha are you the one that bought the Taurus that was posted on ebay? I'm looking to sell my Taurus right now as I have way too many amps.   Too bad I didn't know you were looking as I would've beaten that price for sure.

Noble Audio - the Wizard returns!

Just got my custom Katana's today... for my first CIEM the fit is outstanding in a way that any universal hasn't even gotten close to. According to my audiologist I've got very narrow ear canals which was probably was every universal left me sore after a few hours.   The sound is pretty...

    I'm looking for something new.

I feel you're describing the Denon D2000/5000's, though they're long discontinued. You may be able to find a pair on the marketplace near your budget. Can't think of an in-production equivalent.

    Headphones for classical music ...

The HD600's are good but given the level of HPs and sound quality you're already used to you're not gonna get the "wow" that HD600/650/6xx give to others just starting their trek into hi-fi.

    Small apartment setup. Budget. Simple.

True, it'll give you less options but based on his use case it might be better to sitck to simplicity with built-in BT.

Need small amp between iPad and HD-600s.

Almost any standard amp will work for this, though for best sound quality you really should be using line out from the ipad to bypass the built in amp.

    sub $1000 balanced dac?

Are you looking for the best pure DAC or do you care about versatility, combo units, streaming, etc.

    Small apartment setup. Budget. Simple.

If you set on using bluetooth from a phone, you can just buy a pair of powered speakers and attached them to a bluetooth receiver. A bluetooth audio receiver will run you about $20 and you can use the rest of the money on a nice sets of active speakers.

Need some help for a new UIEM

I would recommend you look into the AAW W500. I've never heard them personally but people rave non-stop about the bass on those.   EDIT: Oops, forget you said you wanted universals. Hmmmm, are wanting bass emphasis in terms of sound signature or do you just have a minimum bar at which is needs...

Choosing 3.5mm Interconnects on a Budget

At this price range I doubt you'd really notice a difference.   All you're looking for is a good, solid connection and pick the connector that won't put as much strain on the cable.

    Cable Between DAC and Amp

No problem.   Keep an eye on ebay. I got mine in the mid-high 100s if I remember correctly as a studio was selling it as they didn't need it anymore.

    Cable Between DAC and Amp

Yes, unless you invest in an XLR switcher.   I use a Pro Co. Switch Witch: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SwitchWitch   That way I have   PC -> Gungnir Gungnir RCA -> Gilmore Lite -> HP Gungnir RCA -> M3 -> HP Gungnir XLR -> Switch Witch Switch Witch -> BHA-1 Switch Witch ->...

Need help buying an amp on a budget.

Haha, I asked specifically because I'm from Toronto. Livving in the US now but coming back to the area over the holidays.   Your audio journey doesn't sound terribly different from when I started out and made the jump into mid-fi. Ended up with my modded LA2000's, HE-5LE's and an M3 for an amp...

Need help buying an amp on a budget.

Never had any experience with the GS109. What would your eventual budget for an amp down the line be? Also need to think about if you're ever planning to go balanced in the future before you splurge on a SE only high end amp.   Where in Canada are you located?

    Open Back Headphones Under $500

I would be wary of anyone telling you flat out that a pair of headphones is "better' because they're planars.   They're a different sound, which is up to you to judge if you do. I personally love me some good planars or dynamic headphones. Choose based on sound, not based on technology...

Need help buying an amp on a budget.

A magni or O2 are an easy budget amp recommendation, it's also good to just have a "cheap" amp around just in case you need something in a pinch or for travel.   I've got a nice little Gilmore Lite that I keep around and am very happy with. They're good for the money if you can find them...

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones

Totally agree, a lot of sellers can't even really tell you which version they have. They just know when and where they bought it from and can't guarantee which revision it is. They really dislike putting new names on small revisions.   That's one thing I can appreciate about Mr Speakers. Ppl...

    Jumping into CIEMS, ~$1000 USD

Hi everyone,   After years of sticking to full-size headphones exclusively I've decided to finally get into the CIEM game. Going to be travelling a lot in the next few years for work so a suitable portable system that will allow me to escape for brief periods to sit back and relax are a must...
