What's the current best sounding sub $1000 balanced dac?
I'm probably heading towards the Teac 503.

A used Gungnir Multibit or Gustard X20U IMO, but the Teac 503 is an integrated source, DAC and amp so it's much more versatile than the former 2.

Are you looking for the best pure DAC or do you care about versatility, combo units, streaming, etc.

I'm looking for a dac. The amp in the Teac is a "bonus".
I'd be using just a USB input. Would be nice to go to 24/192 or higher. XLR out.

I'd suggest to consider the two DACs above IMO. They perform much better than their asking price according to many users.
