I've had my UM2s for about a month now and have just begun to totally enjoy their sound, comfort, and lack of cable noise (compared to my ER4s)...I've been using them at the gym a lot, too. Today, about 30 minutes into my 1st run since Thanksgiving (trust me i needed it), the right channel...

have you ordered yourself a pair of flats from todd? i think they should be a required purchase for anyone buying the MS-2s...the bowls sound great with classical music and anything acoustic, but the slam and snap really leap out with the flat pads...burn in will also help, so those 2 things...

Perhaps as an option for people who can't afford the 2X-s, i'm seeing for the first time that sensaphonic is offering custom-made silicone sleeves for all the Etymotic and Shure IEMs...has anybody tried these out? they don't give any info as to price, so i don't know it if would be worth the...

ER4s--they're not R10s MS2s--they're not R10s px100s--hmm not R10s either but seriously... ER4s--don't like cleaning them, and they are a bit too microphonic for active use MS2--soundwise no complaints, the headband can be a bloodflowpreventer though px100s--bass a bit too boomy, masks...

i'd like to contribute one of my current least-favorite and over-rated songs.."walk idiot walk" by the hives...it's terrible because i actually really liked the song until i moved into my dorm and the guy next door plays it at least 3 times a day, WITHOUT EQUIVOCATION...the walls sort of block...

i'll second Jahn's vote for an MS-2, to give it the majority of 'phones mentioned so far...i love mine, and am using it more and more often...flats are also a must since you want to tame the brightness a bit, and you'll be rocking (or whatever-ing) day after day!

I woke up for class this morning about an hour earlier than i meant to, so what did i do? i looked for any steals or deals on the cream of the crop headphones...not that i can afford any of them, nor am i unhappy with my MS-2s, it was just something to do! lo and behold, amazon plans to have...

i've done that twice (the same ear no less) when i don't give the tips enough drying time after i try and clean them...my uncle had to use a pair of hemastats (SP?? those surgical scissor things) each time and it's worked each time...the 1st time i was way scared for the rest of the day, and...

Merk, since we are both breaking our MS-x in at near the same time, go with me on this one and just bend that headphone! I stayed up lots later than i should've last nite listening with these things, and the bending-of-the-band really helped my headache go away....good luck!

I got my MS-2's on Monday and have been really enjoying them over the still-excellent SR-60s. I'm still new to all the words and jargon that gets flung around here, leaving me in the position that i know i love these things but i can't put my finger on what exactly is wowing me. I just put flats...

I can't speak personally about the 501, but I was in your situation until earlier this week. I emailed Todd back and forth about getting a good rock headphone and a good classical headphone, and asked about the 501's bass extension. He didn't say it was "bad", but really thought the 501's strong...
