Chum I/O Buffered Switchbox
I've been working on an upgrade to the SOCRAM switchbox and decided on a relay-based design. With a ton of JISBOS sitting around I decided to implement them into the switchbox! I call it the Chum I/O Buffered Switchbox. Here's the lowdown on the features: - Unbalanced 5 source connections...- mb3k

Split-Supply Sanity Check
Hey guys, I require a +/-15V and a +5V supply and I drafted a circuit but I need some sanity checks before I implement it. The power supply is similar to the SOHA/SOHAII supply except for the full wave rectifier (D5 & D6 in my schematic) is pointing in different directions compared to the SOHA...- mb3k

SOHA Ready For JISBOS Questions
I've been trying to gather some solid info on making a JISBOS ready SOHA, but it's like searching through a jungle! In April, Regal put together a list of parts to change (see post here). Being 8 months old now I'm not sure if all the changes are necessary or valid. Does anyone have any...- mb3k

Vacuum Tube Radio
I was searching Youtube today and came across a video of a fellow who put together a simple vacuum tube radio. It caught my eye, neat little thing that costs only about $90 which picks up radio signals, amplifies, and plays it through a photograph type shaft. They indicate that it's very...- mb3k

The 701's hurt!
Has anyone noticed that the AKG 701 headband pushes down on the head and after a while it starts to hurt? I've had mine for about 2 months now and I thought it would go away after some stretching and normal use, but unfortunately it hasn't. Is my head a weird shape, or is everyone experiencing...- mb3k

Wheatfield HA-1
I was looking for some more tube amps to build in the (near) future and found Pete Millett's Wheatfield HA-1! A quick search on Head-fi and other places did not come up with many personal builds of it. Nate (n_maher) has expressed interest in it a while back early Jan '06 but I have not heard of...- mb3k

Amp Synergy with...
I like to make DIY my amps and I don't see many reviews of them with headphones. I have the HD650's which go well with the Millett Hybrid (plus diamond buffers), but not as much with the SOHA. But I'm planning to get the AKG-701 and I'm wondering if anyone has a great DIY synergy combo with them.- mb3k

XLR Power Cable
Is a 3-pin XLR AC power cable acceptable to make? It will be implemented in my SOHA where I have to take 2x15VAC plus a center tap from the 2ndary of a transformer to the SOHA board (separate enclosures). Note that the trafo is rated max at 500mA. I'm looking at some Neutrik XLR connectors...- mb3k

Recommendation for a DIY'er
I haven't stepped into the world of dedicated sources yet, but I think it's time to be informed. My amps are all DIY with other miscallaneous components (check sig), but my main source is my iAudio X5. I am looking for a good CD player in the range of $500 or less which of course will hook up...- mb3k

LOST Season 3 start!
The confined feeling was very prominent in the season premier, as Jack, Kate, and Sawyer were imprisioned by the "Others". I wonder who was the kid in the other cage across from Sawyer, he seemed to be imprisioned by the others too... Still so many questions to answer. It's odd that they have...- mb3k

Linkwitz Rotary Switch Question
I'm about to do the CAD for all the faceplates for my enclosures and I've come to a stump. For the modified Linkwitz Crossfeed I will be wiring a rotary switch the "silent method" noted on Tangent's write-up on it. I've been trying to picture the switch in my head, but I can't figure out...- mb3k

Quote: To celebrate the 200 millionth download of Firefox, the Oregon State Linux Users Group created a 45,000+ square foot crop circle of the Firefox logo in an Amity, Oregon oat field (with permission, of course). The circle's planning took two weeks and it took a team of 12 more than 14...- mb3k
