Obscure Chinese DAPs
Nothing special. More limited than most recent budget daps, such as no onboard delete and no direct volume buttons. On the positive side very cheap and decent control layout. Not bad, but better ones available for a few dollars more.- Riolist2

Obscure Chinese DAPs
I have two of them. I bought the latest not too long ago, can't remember if it was ebay or Amazon (I'm in USA). I like that it has a larger screen than the current standard for extreme budget players. The controls could be a bit more intuitive but overall it's a nice player for on the go...- Riolist2

Rockbox Xduoo X3
I had the same issue and went through the trouble of reloading the original bootloader and then reinstalling Rockbox from scratch. It worked, then it happened again and I didn't bother with it after that. I consider it a bug in the native bootloader and I don't think Xduoo is going to do...- Riolist2

I would say they are closely matched soundwise and any differences you perceive will depend on a lot of things that I won't be able to duplicate such as which iems or headphones you use, preferred sound settings (each player having a wide variety of settings) etc. Having said that and keeping in...- Riolist2

Rockbox Xduoo X3
I had (and have) the exact same problem with my X3. There's a procedure on XVortex's site to reload the original bootloader which solves the problem. I don't remember it now but if you have a problem finding it let me know. Anyway, like I said, it solved my problem, but then it re-occured. I...- Riolist2

Take a tiny, tiny, TINY amount of superglue or epoxy and apply it to the tip of a torx 5 screwdriver and insert it into the stripped screw, Hold it very steady and wait for it to set. You should then be able to remove the stripped screw. You have to get a small enough amount of glue on the...- Riolist2

That's why I prefer folder navigation: it puts the choice of organization in the hands of the user. For example, you could have top-level folders for Genres, then Artists below that, then Albums, and finally songs. I wish Tag navigation worked that way, so choosing a Genre first presented you...- Riolist2

Rockbox Xduoo X3
OK, do you have hot air desoldering? I have a soldering station that has that and a temperature controlled soldering iron. The technique I would use is: 1: secure the board to a flat surface with tape 2: make a 'mask' with heavy cardboard with cutouts that expose only the switches and their...- Riolist2

I can't speak to all IEM's but the ones I'm using (Tennmark Dulcimer, Narmoo S1), listening to Beethoven symphonies, 16/44 FLAC (lots of silences), there is dead silence, each section (string, woodwind, percussion, etc.) is well-represented spatially, and plenty of micro-detail in solo instruments.- Riolist2

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
I found that burning in the player for a few hours 'developed' the bass far better than the EQ. It may sound unbelievable, but I can't deny what I heard. Out of the box the bass seemed to lack authority; a few hours of listening and it was like looking at a polaroid develop in front of your...- Riolist2

Provided you didn't damage the physical switches on the circuit board there's an easy fix for this that will also make reassembly easier. First assure you didn't replace the volume buttons with the front deck buttons, then when you insert the volume buttons into the chassis for reassembly, hold...- Riolist2

I like the versatility that is part of the N3's DNA: 3-level gain setting, AptX bluetooth, dual coax/usb digital out, side-mounted physical controls - all well thought out and implemented with a sound engine that brings all that versatility back to the bottom line that makes it all worthwhile...- Riolist2

Not much written as of yet about the sound quality, so let me be one of the first... 1. Definite improvement with a few hours burn-in. 2. Overall impression: 'Neutral' which to me is good. It means the personality of your headphones will come through, and the sound you perceive will be...- Riolist2
