KRK RP5 Studio Monitor Setup
I've been using this saffire- http://www.focusrite.com/products/saffire/saffire/overview/ Got it for a good deal on ebay. Uses firewire to connect to the PC. It works quite well for the krk rp5's, easily drives them, and I think they're plenty good for bigger speakers too when I decide to...- ojyarumaru

KRK RP5 Studio Monitor Setup
Hey guys, been away from head-fi for a while. I'm using balanced->unbalanced right now so I'll opt for XLR->XLR. I ended up getting a focusrite saffire for a really good price on ebay and is supposed to be better than the emu 0404. Thanks for all of your help!- ojyarumaru

Desktop Computer Setup- Soundcard/External with Recording Capabilities??
Hey guys, I'm looking for a soundcard/external dac that can drive studio monitors (KRK RP5's) and headphones (AKG K81DJ, iems) from my desktop computer. I record some acoustic guitar and vocals from time to time so it'd be great if there was a mic in option. I searched numerous threads and saw...- ojyarumaru

KRK RP5 Studio Monitor Setup
Ok thanks, so TRS (balanced)->3.5mm? This is better than RCA->3.5mm, correct? And about the Petite, yes, I know I should be amplifying them with something better, but I'm trying to do best with what I already have for now. Thanks for your input!- ojyarumaru

KRK RP5 Studio Monitor Setup
Hey guys, I recently bought KRK RP5's and am trying to hook it up to the PC. Instead of using the onboard sound, I was thinking of using the Go-Vibe Petite USB Headphone DAC that I already had. But would it be able to run the RP5's adequately? Also, what would be the best way to connect the...- ojyarumaru

How are the M Audio av40s?
I thought the bx5a's blew away the av40's in terms of sound quality. I'd say they're not even comparable because the bx5a is in a different class than av40's. The audioengines A2 and A5 sound very muddy compared to bx5a's or krk rp5's.- ojyarumaru

Audioengine A2 Setup
I'm planning on getting my first speaker setup; Audioengine A2's for home use with my PC as a source. I was wondering if I should get the EMU 0404 PCI soundcard or since I have a Go-Vibe petite (headphone amp+usb dac) use this? Or any alternatives? I'm hoping I can the best bang for buck in...- ojyarumaru

$131 HD555s or $205 HD595s?
Get Goldring DR150's. They are cheaper than the HD595's but sound better. They are also very easy to drive (i think 32 ohms). There are a few threads about it here- look into it.- ojyarumaru

The next step from KSC-75: Denon D1000, Equation RP-21, or Goldring DR150?
Definitely DR150's. KSC75's were my 1st real headphones and I bought the SR-60's but it lacked soundstage and bass which the ksc's had more of. I then got the DR150's and they sound like a more refined and fuller sounding KSC75's. Dr150's have much more refined bass and the soundstage is very good.- ojyarumaru

Official Goldring DR150 Impressions Thread
I bought the DR150's about 3 weeks ago and I am loving it. At first, I was in a dilemma whether to buy this or the HD595's but now I'm glad that I went with the DR150's. The bass can be tamed by removing the cloth inside of the grill, but I prefer to keep it in there.- ojyarumaru
