Sorry for yet another 555 vs 595 thread!

It's just, well, these are the prices where I live. Changes things doesn't it?

I want something to listen to around the house. Anything from watching movies to playing games but mainly for listening to music. I don't plan on getting a headphone amp, they're just too expensive. The headphone out on my regular amp (a Philips FA960) is pretty beefy though.

Please help, I'm using K81s all night, THE HEADACHES.

Oh, I listen to every kind of music, play all sorts of games and enjoy basically every kind of movie. That helps narrow things down huh?

Note that only full-size Senniess seem to really be significantly cheaper than they are in the US. If you think I should go for some AKGs or something they'll be basically US list price. So, they'd better be damn good.

Get Goldring DR150's. They are cheaper than the HD595's but sound better. They are also very easy to drive (i think 32 ohms). There are a few threads about it here- look into it.

I bought my Hd555 from buyeretail.com for $106 SHIPPED. They're located in New York, took about 6 days to ship and im in California.
At one point Amazon.com had these for $100 shipped but their prices keep raising and lowering. I dont see them having free shipping anymore either.

The Netherlands. I can't order anything from outside the country thanks to no creditcard. Probably a blessing in disguise, that.

I was going off Headphone.com prices and thinking I was getting a pretty good deal. Hm.

Hm, I can get those for 105 euros (~$149). Tempting.

I think you can definitely get them for cheaper than headroom.com prices in Europe. Check for german online retailers or perhaps google.de.
Some nice alternative headphones you have been recommended here in the thread. I have the 595 and I would recommend it, if the slight refinement over the 555 is important to you. The 595 is a good all-round headphone.

I would look at Beyer 880's as well. (tho not easy to drive)

. Got mine 555's from rebelio too which I think OP is trying to buy from. I am telling you the delivery was over 6 weeks! but they were out of stock at that moment. Got them for 72 euro but I see they wisely/unluckily raised the price.

I know both of those prices can be bettered. I've seen the HD555 as low as $70 and the HD595 as low as $150.

The Senn 555 refurbed units (as are most of the Senn manufacturers refurbed units) on Ebay look and sound almost new and are a bargain at around $80.
