Sony MDR-Z7M2 Headphone Thread
It's not that I don't like them. I have too many headphones, so I ended up passing them on to someone who could utilize them better than I. They were a gift from work. Pretty sweet deal for the fella who snagged them- Bigrock2150

Hey everybody! I'm back in the modding world. I shut down my business for awhile due to a number of things but I'm up and running again. Sorry for not responding to everyone's messages lately as I've been quite busy. There's a total of 403 posts since I've been gone so I better get...- Bigrock2150

Quote: Yes, the headphones that you received had less than 2 hours on them. I bought the original 225i and modded them right away to take to a meet, ever since they've just been boxed away. Interesting that you caught that, you must know your grados!- Bigrock2150

Quote: Great craftsmanship. Mahogany? Just a little friendly suggestion, you may want to shorten the length. I started my first generation of cups at about that length and I had a lot of customers request that I shorten them. I still believe that deep cups change the sound in the most...- Bigrock2150

Quote: Thats a bummer. I've actually done this quite a few times. Unfortunately it's a pain to get a replacement headband. One thing you could try doing is pop out the rest of the plastic peg and replace it with a pen tip. It doesn't really match but it's hardly noticeable. The next...- Bigrock2150

So I made these about a month ago but I forgot to show them to you guys. I took a 225i and put Jarrah Burl THM cups on them and used figured Maple for the cup holders. I've decided that I'll be selling them for only $200 (which is the cost of a stock 225i's). I'm letting them go cheap...- Bigrock2150

Quote: You can get real wood for that price but they're just not going to be exotic wood. Which OEM companies rarely use, if never. Something like maple that's be stained or dyed isn't very expensive to mass produce. But you're probably correct about them being plastic, Knockoffs are...- Bigrock2150

Quote: With Techheromods cups we generally like to drill a hole in the side of the cup to allow the cable to slide through, it's cleaner and more attractive. This means that most will have to send their headphones to us (which we recommend to eliminate any mistakes) to be modded...- Bigrock2150

I agree, I don't think the grado's are heavy enough to need a padded headband. Adding more bulk to that area actually puts more pressure on the head than if you just left the original headband. It does however make them LOOK better, more official and less cheap looking.- Bigrock2150

Quote: I've learned through experience that you can never go too deep with woodies. That is if you enjoy the increase in bass and soundstage. However problems arise, first being that the weight increases dramatically with hardwoods like cocobolo. The next and equally annoying thing is...- Bigrock2150

They should be 4 inches or about 10cm. I don't own them but every other full sized AT has 4 inch pads. Audicubes2.com is based out of Japan I believe, but if you don't get the pads directly from AT it's either ebay or audiocubes2.com.- Bigrock2150
