Reply to review by 'bloodydoorknob' on item 'Etymotic ER4XR'
Great review! The etymotic er4p has been my workhorse portable phones for years, even after owning several other high-end IEM's I still prefer the sound and small footprint of the ety's over all else. Jumped on the chance to buy the XR's and boy am I happy with them!- bloodydoorknob

Anyone heard of Hivemind Cables before?
I just got the chroma sound weaver cables for both of my Ethers and I really like how flexible the cable is. Build quality is on par if not better than the DUM cables I originally ordered with my ethers. I really like how light and pliable the silver upgrade makes to the cable itself...- bloodydoorknob

Hello Head-Fi! Shure SE846 vs SE535 + OPPO HA-2
I have the iphone 6 and it is my main portable player, even after purchasing an AK jr. The AK jr beats the iphone on memory (expandable, I have a 128 gb micro sd in mine) and its ability to play hi-res files out of the box (plenty of apps available for the iphone to play hi res), but soundwise...- bloodydoorknob

☯️ Cavalli Audio's Liquid Carbon... a $599 Cavalli amp???
Finally got to test my LC in balanced mode with new cables and it turns out the cables I purchased initially were not working and there's nothing wrong with my amp. I made contact with Mr. Cavalli and he was extremely helpful throughout the process of troubleshooting.- bloodydoorknob

☯️ Cavalli Audio's Liquid Carbon... a $599 Cavalli amp???
I just used some solder wire and tested it using a flashlight. I get a steady light with the flashlight. That means cable should be working?- bloodydoorknob

Thanks, I'll do that. I assume one probe to the metal contact on the xlr connector and the other probe onto the right or left connector to the headphones?- bloodydoorknob

☯️ Cavalli Audio's Liquid Carbon... a $599 Cavalli amp???
Yes, looks like I'll have to take the cables and test it out with other equipment at a local shop. I used to have an Oppo HA-1, but sold it recently. Hopefully it's not the amp.- bloodydoorknob

☯️ Cavalli Audio's Liquid Carbon... a $599 Cavalli amp???
That's what I thought. But I'm still not getting any sound via the balanced xlr output. I'm trying to troubleshoot to see if my cable (recent purchase) is the problem, but unfortunately I got no other balanced cables on hand for my ethers.- bloodydoorknob

☯️ Cavalli Audio's Liquid Carbon... a $599 Cavalli amp???
I just received my LC from fedex today, shipped on 12/18. Single ended output works great, but I'm not getting anything via balanced out. I'm using a Charlston balanced cable with my Ethers. The button on the far right is an input selector, right? So if my source is connected via rca's then...- bloodydoorknob

New to headphone scene, ready for a nicer setup.
IMO the ifi idac 2 $350, and a pair of fostex t50rp mkii $130 would suit you well and should keep you within budget. The idac2 has a class A amp section that will drive pretty much any headphone out there, and the dac (burr brown) section is superb, sounds well beyond its price point. You also...- bloodydoorknob

Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!
My hd800's have lots of small scratches and chips on the silver paint, and they have never left the house as well. As much as I love them the build quality is a bit lacking, especially when compared to my other totl cans: t1 ,ether's, and oppo pm1.- bloodydoorknob

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
I use mine with the WA6 and Lyr 2. Sounds great on both of them. Unfortunately ,the right driver is starting to fail on my DT1770's. I started getting nasty distortion, sounds like the driver membrane is blown. Anyone else having any problems with their's? I'm really disappointed since I...- bloodydoorknob

All of them will be fine. As others have mentioned before m,e you only get it from the micro idsd before 9:00 on the volume pot, setting the power to ECO mode is all you need to do. I don't even activate IEMMATCH with the shure 846. On the other hand, with the ican, I get no channel...- bloodydoorknob

Beyerdynamic DT-1770: Product Info, Discussion and Impressions
@john57...Although I would have preferred snap-on pads too, I don't find it too cumbersome changing them. Have you tried slipping the lip of the beyer dt1770 pads into the small cutout located in the front of the cups and spinning them on? It's much faster that way.- bloodydoorknob

iDSD micro Black Label. Tour details (page 147). Release info (page 153).
I don't have the mojo, but I own both the hugo and iDSD micro. From what I've read here, the mojo is very similar to the hugo. The dac section of the micro and hugo are similar to my ears with the hugo sounding slightly more transparent. The amp section of the micro is great, but I find that...- bloodydoorknob
