2012 College Football Thread
Well of course the Stanford game was no surprise as I foretold it in post #32. Don't look too hard at that post, though, because I also picked Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Tennessee is forgivable and the Arkansas pick was bad, but who'd have ever imagined Texas would score so many points...- J W

Chucks! I was way off with Alabama/Arkansas. I thought maybe Wilson would play seeing as how this is SEC ball and all, but it's obviously the right choice for him to sit. Alabama would kill him and the kid probably has a career in the NFL about which to think. Va Tech with the annual bad...- J W

We'll see on Stanford/USC. They have to lose somewhere, right? How else will the SEC get its teams into the MNC game? Kansas State is #15/#14 in updated polls. Miami is not good this year, but they still have athletes all over the field. Dismantling them the way K-State did is extremely...- J W

Quote: Wasn't that something? Granted, Miami isn't the old Miami, but Collin Klein may very well be my favorite player to watch in College Football right now. I don't understand why he doesn't receive more Heisman love. K-State is also underranked and should be a top 15 team. They have a...- J W

Gosh, I was tempted to call that OK STATE upset. It seemed like an obvious upset, but I was unsure about Arizona. Pac 12 took care of business. Arky got caught looking ahead. It's tough to pick against Alabama, but I'm saying Arkansas gets it done somehow in week 3. Don't look now...- J W

Man, I didn't even know who Kristen Stewart was until I did a google search. She's the kid in Panic Room! This might be the first time I've ever said this, but I feel a bit old. . .. She seems to have nice hair. *awkwardly steps aside*- J W

Darn, Vandy got hosed a bit there. I'm hoping UMich keeps it close, or wins. I want to see SEC teams lose often this year. I'm tired of them. I expect them to be dominant as usual, unfortunately. Really excited for the WSU/BYU game.- J W

Anyone think Michigan can keep it within 2 touchdowns? I'm feeling something like 49-10 Alabama. In other news, OU plays diddly to start the season. Still, week 1 is on the road against UTEP with a late kickoff.- J W

Anybody watching Breaking Bad on AMC?
Quote: Yep, I thought it was a bit of a cheap episode (not bad, mind you) up until the very end. I kept thinking Jesse and Walt were being way too trusting with this new guy and that he might be an undercover cop. I admit, I snickered a bit when he started to wave. Then out came the...- J W

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938). 10/10. Pretty great. Let's see, minimal romantic scenes, castles, sword fights, defiance. It's aged well and my total score comes to 11 points, -1 point for men in tights.- J W

Quote: Yeah, I've sunk plenty of hours into these Total War games over the years. Have you tried Crusader Kings 2? It has some of the same features and has a deeper diplomatic structure, but lacks the real-time fun you get from battles in TW games.- J W

Quote: Hmm. I'm as riveted as ever, though I admit last season was tough to top. I expect something fun to happen between now and episode 8. You just know (Don't look Lizard King) something's going to happen to Skylar. Something more poisonous to her than tobacco perhaps?- J W

I was watching fencing the other day and have decided that that's a great sport to watch. Lots of scoring, quick matches, cool helmets, fairly easy to follow. Plus it's an actual duel.- J W
