Is this a good deal?
Its a great deal, find out how to RockBox that sucker and you can run FLAC. As a matter of fact, because the 5.5 can be rockboxed I was looking at new/old stock units on the internet and they want 350 for them because it can be rockboxed,,,,,thats the same price as the new version.- HardHeadCase

I just bought some from J&R as well, 329,,,,,I was happy with that price. Wish I had known about the 329 at Headroom, would have liked to give them my money instead. Opppps,,,,looks like its 350 at Headroom,,,,oh well.- HardHeadCase

Whats wrong with the PK-2s? They sound better than the PK-3s and they are within your budget. I got the PK-1s for my Dad for x-mas to go with a Bithead and they were fantastic! What Media Management Software?
I like Media Monkey but I cant for the life of me figure out how to run ASIO with MM. I got it working with FooBar and it works great but Foobar is not a very friendly program.- HardHeadCase

I agree, using an external dac with the money you have to spend is best. Computer sound cards suck, for music that is. EMU 0202 is cheaper. When you are using the DAC section as compared to using your Ipod there is an up conversion going on. Ipod outputs music that was taken from 16 bit at 44.1 KHz.
