my budget pc esque speaker path - come on in
well umm haha, you know how you end up overspending sometimes, well i blew my budget way out... ended up with a panasonic xr57 instead of the t-amp, for speakers i have a pair of ascend cbm-170se ($350) on the way as well as a pair of energy c-3 (discontinued) ($250). i also had a chance to... -
Help with SoundCard and Speakers
1212m and swans m200 would be a good setup. just make sure you like the looks and size of the swans. if you want to budgetize it more, you can go down from the 1212m to the 0404 or m-audio rev 5.1 or x-fi xtreme music, which are all in teh same $ range. if you want speakers with a sub... -
Active or Passive speakers? - small room near field computer speakers
proceed with caution and only shop if the seller has a full refund return policy. active monitors can have an absolutely fantastic sound but can become quickly fatiguing, they are very revealing, which can be great for well recorded music, but can become tiring as you may imagine with not as... -
my budget pc esque speaker path - come on in
Hello all, thanks for coming in to share my pain, first some brief background info. is in order... Speakers are for a bedroom setup where powerful sound is not needed. House is shared so a minimal amount of noise respect is needed. Prefer a 2.0 setup, or 2.1 setup if the subwoofer is well...- dano1122

Soundcard w/ XLR out?
nope it doesn't, those larger inputs are midi inputs, i was thrown off by that too at first. it seems i can go 1/4" to XLR without any problem.- dano1122

Soundcard w/ XLR out?
Are there any soundcards for PC w/ XLR output? I've been searching and have found none. The closest I found was the top of the line m-audio soundcard with xlr INPUTs. The reason I'm asking is I'm going for an active monitor system and most of these types of speakers will take only XLR balanced...- dano1122

temporary source: laptop
i have nothing but praise for the echo indigo. it's a pcmcia dac/amp card and it really does a very good job for the price and size. this is coming from someone with a dynahi and a vda/vac combo.- dano1122

The "I don't like the 'Sennheiser sound'" Thread
*puts on flame suit* i've owned alot of headphones. are the senn's perfect? no. imo, there is no perfect headphone. the senn's are too boring and plain for some types of music and recordings. i would suggest two or three headphones. for example, the beyer dt880 is great with jazz, classical...- dano1122

Beyer DT880 vs. AKG K501 and Grado
i hate to say this but all 3 are very good cans could easily stay in a headphone collection with all getting use. the k501 does have good bass that reaches low. it's not as strong as the grado or 880 (which is also not so strong). the dt990 feels like you have a subwoofer strapped to your head...- dano1122

What competes with the AKG501
i know this is an old thread but i just have to say that EBM just hit the nail on the head with the k501/990 pro. i own both cans and that is a stellar comparison.- dano1122

Review: CIAudio VDA-1/VAC-1 vs E-MU 1212m
the psu is worth it. you don't have to get it right away but you'll definetly want to. if you have an ear at all you'll recognize the bass become cleaner and the soundstage wider.- dano1122

Review: CIAudio VDA-1/VAC-1 vs E-MU 1212m
i can second this reviewer's impressions. it's not night and day (like audigy to emu), but it's a worthy upgrade.- dano1122

Anyone using AV-710 flashed to Prodigy/Revo/Aureon & 24/192 mod ??
i know there are many on this board who have done the mod with success. it does disable all the outputs except for spdif iirc.- dano1122

Maxed out Dynahi vs. Veda Audio Dynahi SA
it depends on the upgrades.. if it has parts matched and upgraded power supply section then it will sound just like a dynahi-sa from what i've gathered.- dano1122

downgrading from 650: recommendations?
i may take out another audition on the dt880 but i do remember them sounding thin. as far as clamping goes, they don't clamp too much, i have had them for several months now, i guess this is a not a big issue. perhaps it is their heavier bass response that is making them a bit more fatiguing...- dano1122

downgrading from 650: recommendations?
i'm probably going to get hammered for this but, i'm considering downgrading from my 650s. any recommendations? i need something circum-aural (fit around the ear), but hopefully lighter and less clamping. also a little leaner on the bass while maintaining the 'edgeless treble' and smooth...- dano1122
