Heya,

Just got notified that I shouldn't pull headphones out of the Dynahi while it's still on. Any reason why? I haven't had this precaution with the GS-1..

Thanks

Look at the buffer on the far right

This is why!

If I turn then volume knob down to 0, and then unplug it, will there be this problem?

Wow... scary!

Actually, it is suggested that you DO plug in and out while it is on. This is what KG recommends as well.

This prevents power on/off pop being sent to the headphones, which can be particularly bad with low impedance phones.

The Dynahi does not use the same buffer topology that is shown in that PPA, nothing will melt.

Ugh.. so many mixed messages. So confusing!

Actually, pulling the plug out while the amp is on is not that dangerous - if you do it quickly! If it's only for a moment, then the short doesn't not cause any damage. But if it's shorted for several seconds...you see what happens.

So.. if I do this :

Leave headphones plugged into the Dynahi
Turn on Dynahi when wake up, turn off Dynahi when sleeping while the headphones are plugged in

Would it really pose that big a problem?

With Grados, I pulled out the plug when powering on/off. The popping seemed to be more severe with them, and it worried me that the pulse would eventually damage them.

With Sennheisers it's much less severe popping sound, I just leave them plugged in all the time while powering on/off.

Either way, I would not have the plug 'half in' as mentioned.

So I guess K1000 drivers are ok to leave on/off.. since their impedance is pretty high..

That photo is quite clearly not a dynahi.

I plug headphones into and remove them all the time from all
of my dynahi's usually with the power on.

The great KG himself responded to my thread!

That settles it! Screw precautions.
