may I suggest the audio-technica ath-m30x? it is $69 in amazon, not bassy at all, great highs, very acceptable mids. I got mine with brainwavz pleather pads and sound much better than with stock pads (imo).

Not quite a fan of m30x personally. The only stuff from m*0x series that's acceptable for me is m40x , and above, at least for me.

Then why they bother making a new hi2050 version mid 2015 ? just leftover parts in the factory they wanted to get rid of ?

@naushinigami you can find hm5 pads in velour and pleather and different colors

does the hybrid pads better than the others?
comfort, seal, and more importantly the sound

Pleather will seal and isolate better. The velours offer slightly reduced bass and a more airy presentation. The hybrids are really somewhere in betwenn (as one would imagine). I personally prefer the feel of velour on my skin over pleather but YMMV.

Seems like velour pads will serve my taste better
I dont know about the hybrids though
Guess there is no other way but to find this out myself :)

I'm afraid you're right about that

Tbh there's not a big difference between the velour and the hybrid but it's there.

Just an FYI, the takstar pro 80/gemini 1000, have different pads than the hyperx series. The sound will be different between the two.

Stock pro80 earpads are denser and a bit rougher, and have lesser room for the ears. HyperX Cloud I ear pads are quite similar to the Somic MH463: quite soft and squishy.
Not only that, the HyperX cloud have more paper on the driver baffle disks (do i use the right term here??), probably to boost the bass. I'm at office now, will try to upload some pictures when I get home.

Any news on the upcoming takstar wooden on ears?

Meanwhile:

I love wooden headphones, but those are pretty ugly imo

Judging by the specs, drivers are not takstar

It possible that they've just added a resistor to change the impedance.
