Pro 80 had mediocre soundstage but good positioning. I have the JVC S680, which is a lesser CAL!, and it CRAPS all over the pro 80's soundstage, so try out the CAL!.

Otherwise you'll have to move up in the price bracket to the big 3 at 150 bucks, the A900x, DT770, and K550, all of which, curiously, have great soundstages for closed headphones.

I will try the Takstar HD 5800 and the new Ultrasone 820.

what are you talking about? V shaped pro-80?
HyperX Cloud are just pro-80 with a microphone and without the coiled cable (takstar dropped that to a long time ago). they didn't change the sound when they released V2 (over a year ago).

No, there's a new pro 80 model. Some say the Hyper X Cloud II sounds better on amazon, which translates to: "hur dur more bass quantity", so it might be using the new model as well.

The 5800 is highly unlikely to be a continuation of the Pro80. Because it looks like the 5500 and somewhat the 6000, and given the numbering, I'd say its the midway point between those.

Both of which are V shaped DJ headphones. The 5500 is said to sound worse than the pro 80, so I wouldn't hold my breath on the 5800.

it could be just the kingston soundcard, or placebo effect because they bought the new version. most of them are also upgrading from bad headsets like Turtle Beach. the original HyperX Cloud also had great reviews and we know they are just pro-80 straight cable with a mic.

Yep! I suspect its the effect of the el'Cheapo DSP they come with.

The Kingston Cloud HyperX (version I, without USB soundcard) always sounded pretty sibilant to me. But I never heard reviews of the Pro 80 mention sibilance.

Depends on what you are comparing it to: The Razer Hydra w/ its 0 treble? Yeah its going to be sibilant.

The Pro 80 has more in the highs than most consumer grade "warm" headphones with rolled off highs, but isn't really sibilant, the mid treble is just "present" rather than over accentuated like you see in some V shaped headphones.

My main headphones are the Fidelio X2 whose treble is not dull at all.

According to innerfidelity, the X2 has the vocal sibilance range of 5-7Hz scooped out. Interestingly enough innerfidelity's graphcs on the Pro 80 say they do the same thing, but I don't agree with them.

Rather I believe the goldenears chart on the Pro 80, where there is a scoop at 4Hz but its 5-7Hz range is slightly emphasized. Again from what I hear that range is simply present but not tiring, with a dry and semi-metallic treble.

I believe what I hear and I hear neither scooped out mids on the X2's and nor sibliance on the Pro80's. I'm just a lucky man enjoying my music

The graphs I posted show neither of those things.

Good for the graphs that they match my hearing

I misread your post as if the graph showed scooped out mids, my bad.

With some Photoshop trickery, I've overlayed the Fidelio X2 and Pro 80 and played around with the colours.

Pink & Green: Pro 80
Blue & Red: X2
