They remind me a bit of the Roland headphones. Definitely nicer looking than the HI 2050 imo.
Also, I've just taken a look at Hal's inventory. If Head fi had a "Budget guru", that title should be given to you

I think that HI 2050 is one of the better looking budget around the ear headphones and it has many metal parts that add to the overall sturdiness and build quality. But this is just my subjective opinion.

Looking at Roland's headphones, remind me of the ATH-M series from Audio Technica with simpler and slimmer headband.

Thanks for calling me a "Budget Guru". I take it as a compliment. I'm extremely tempted to add this definition to my profile, but it will be a self-proclamation.

Glad you like them... I think most people liked the metal parts. I never understood why people said that hi2050 is like a cheap version of pro880. Pads on beyers are better but beside that is is pretty much the same. Dt990 Pro looks worse... and you could by six hi2050¨s for that price.

I took a closer look on the new takstars, and I thought I've seen something similar somewhere... I¨m quite shure the blue dot was chosen on purpose :p

I checked the taktstar homepage. So they got two new models right? The Hi 2500 are open which seems it replaces the HI 2050's and the HD 5800 replace the Pro 80's?

I like that both models have a detachable cable. This should have been done a long time ago.

I'm looking for a closed headphone with a wide soundstage. I guess I will try out the HD 5800. They are not listed on aliexpress btw.

At least the pro 80 is still alive. I think the hyper cloud x 2 uses the new pro 80, but the Gemini HSR1000 is still the same old pro 80 we know and love.

EDIT: Why did they take off the pro 80 from the store page, I thought they just introduced a new pro 80 model that's now V shaped so all the cool kids can listen to hip hop.

Pro 80 had mediocre soundstage but good positioning. I have the JVC S680, which is a lesser CAL!, and it CRAPS all over the pro 80's soundstage, so try out the CAL!.

Otherwise you'll have to move up in the price bracket to the big 3 at 150 bucks, the A900x, DT770, and K550, all of which, curiously, have great soundstages for closed headphones.

what are you talking about? V shaped pro-80?
HyperX Cloud are just pro-80 with a microphone and without the coiled cable (takstar dropped that to a long time ago). they didn't change the sound when they released V2 (over a year ago).
