The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP

Looks like the AK100 may come out in different colours. A survey was going on as to which colour would be popular. I guess this was the "upgrade" in the end.

Their booth was full so I didn't get a chance to talk to them.

A red one would be good for Chinese New Year now.

The AK100-Intenational combo is amazing. Listening to mine now thru my MH335DW and they're amazing. Very warm, large soundstage, and you can really pick out the details off 192/24s :)

I highly suggest using a dedicated Card Reader, rather than the AK100.

Btw, I am using Win 7 and open the Format Software as The Administrator is a MUST.

Besides, Try not to use Leave Your FAT32 64GB formatted SD Card in your AK100 when you connect your AK100 to PC,
Coz sometimes, it may cause Format / Reading Error on your SD Card.

But I recall reading from some forums ppl can format the SD Card and Transfer Files through the AK100.
I just forgot the details. Sadly, The transfer speed is not as fast as using a Card Reader.

Well, Any one Tried -->  SD-Micro to SD Card Adapter ??

http://linitx.com/product/11922

Wishing that can use Dual 128GB SD Card -->

32+128+128 = 288GB!

or even 32 + 256 + 256 = 0.5 TB !!!

Also, How about this --> Micro SD to USB Drive

OTG makes more sense in this case. With OTG, it allow the DAP to play the audio files directly from your external devices such as thumb drives or portable HD.
I was surprised that AK 100 such a very high end & costly DAP but does not have this OTG feature.

Hi V-ZERO

Sounds sweet. Please tell me what are you using to connect your source from the AK100 to the International? Optical or 3.5 earphone jack?

VZ, so then double amping right ? as there is no way to employ the digital input (off the ak100 anyway)

I guess the balanced out is nice (never tried one, don't what sort of improvement it would make of IEMs) but I think I'd lean to the conti v3...

Right now using 3.5 to 3.5, I'd like to try through an optical DAC but I want to keep this stack to a minimum.

V3 is too hissy out of the box for me. Need to burn it in a bit.

And yes this is double amping. Maybe there is if you use an optical portable DAC like the DB2 I think? I'll have to research more on that...

None of the colours are available now. As mentioned, this is a survey.
