One of the reasons why I don't like this case though is there's insufficient top protection. I can't remember if I saw it on this thread or if I dreamt of one but I seem to recall seeing another case with a top protection (but need to open to access the touchscreen) :-

I posted that picture. It is going to be an official release from iriver, the estimated time from what I have been told was April. So I assume we just have to keep a look out on iriver korea website for updates.

I have the brown case. Very nice and for me, thrown in the pocket of the jacket or pants, it protects the AK100 fine, while still allowing easy access to the jacks and the on/off button. I want as little bulk as possible, which is the reason for the AK100.

I heard from iRiver today. They are still working on gapless, same old story but at least they admit they are working on it.

thx, ordered through ebay

BTW, anyone had a chance compare AK100 to Cowon X7?

I just ordered AK but didn't have a chance to listen before and wonder what's SQ difference between 'em ?

Use Beyers T5p / Denon D7100 at home and Senns CX400 II / Beyers DTX101 on the go.

I would use the DB2. It has dual Wolfson dacs and sounds very good and can work with the hi rez files.

You will probably find that the impedance is about 1/2 of specified in the bass if it was taken at 1000hz. In single driver BAs it also ends to increase significantly there after. They don't behave like single dynamics. Not arguing with your conclusions regarding the sound but neither may still be that great technical impedance match.

Honestly these are just my findings of good pairings age was just trying to maybe find an explanation. I mean the lear shouldn't work as they have 5 drivers and very low impedance and although the FR is changed we still have Detail and dynamics, something, that is easily lost with this player.

Thanks for the effort of replying... So, how about D12 (Anaconda)? It has a good DAC and also a rollable amp?

RWAK is a great player, so you will need a very good DAC to do RWAK justice. I decided against DACing and instead getting decent amp, saves money and sound should be great. I would rather spend big pennies on some top notch IEMs than in invest in DAC.

mp3, thanks, i can confirm the same for RWAK vs. S9, RWAK wins hands down in every aspect except for what you said and also better UI, but RWAK sounds so pure and refined and effortless that S9 goes far behind. I use S9 now only in my car via USB, else i stick to RWAK and C3.

Updated to 1.33 & quickly reverted back to 1.32.....  My RWAK100 froze at every screen for several seconds, before accepting any touch screen or physical button input.  Very strange...even right after booting, it'd sit there for several seconds on the screen that shows the progress bar & firmware version # at the bottom before finally transitioning onto the next screen, but then THAT screen would freeze for several seconds as well.  I'm probably doing a poor job of describing my experience.  Anyway, I downgraded to 1.32, and no more issues.

What is 1.33 supposed to do?
