I have used the toslink and it works fine. Used it with various optical in dacs and as that, it is a good source.

Thanks for the quick response... i will order the mini-toslink cable now.... Anyway, where can i find cable like below for my portable use?

AK100 as all-in-one source?

Have you guys tried using Mini-toslink cable?

Does it work when connected to external DAC like Bifrost?

Will it work when connected to Anaconda? Will it act as pure transport if sound will be feed to Anaconda thru Mini-Toslink and Ananconda's DAC will be used instead of the internal one (though they have same DAC)

I am using my AK100 with a mini-toslink cable, connected to the optical input on my iBasso Anaconda D12. It works very, very well. The AK100 does indeed act as a pure transport in this case. With the D12 I'm using the "jazz/classical" opamp from Topflight's kit, with dummy buffers, and it sounds 99% like my iBasso DX100.

Sysconcepts, as mentioned above. The one you show is wayyyy to expensive and Sysconcepts will use the 1300 fiber cable which is the best there is, and better than glass. There is a link on the first page of the DX100 thread I started or in my signature there is a link.

In case anyone is having trouble downloading the v1.33 firmware from iRiver's site, feel free to download it from my Dropbox here.

AK100 would work fine as transport only but i cannot get used to the idea of DAP pushing my multi kilo rig, so i prefer dedicated Mac 8g ram onboard configured for playback only. I am not a believer in miracles, call me old or corny :)

a letter from AK100 user @ iRiver:

dear iRiver, please can you teach your AK100 to read cue lists? it's pain in the rear not having this possibility...

thanks

Seriously, IF someone could blend sonic advantages of AK100 and Colorfly players then we would have near perfect product... love them both but sometimes i cannot stop thinking how different they are. C3 is more midcentric, narrower but precise stage, great depth and attack transients, rich tones and reverb... AK100, great separation, fine detailing, airy, huge stereo imaging and stage.... but sometimes feels too polite and lacks a bit dynamics.

I wonder if there is any DAP which can blend Colorfly and AK skills in one unit?

NB: AK still a better player i have, but even this is not perfect. i know you tell me Terra but only wav and no graphical IU of any kind is no go for me, same like DX100 too bricky and miserable battery life.

The gold and brown case compliment each other very well.

Gavin, have you tried the AK100 yet with IEMS?

I have never heard the AK100 until Sunday, with the Stage 1 mod from Indonesia. I listened with the FitEar MH335DW and I was pleasantly surprised enough to want one
