The Fiio X5 Thread

  Hi All,

Question for you:

Why is it that certain albums converted from FLAC to OGG Vorbis will play completely seamlessly, and others will have gaps between the tracks? Sometimes just minuscule little pops, or sometimes larger gaps.

I am converting the FLAC files through foobar.  If I convert them to LAME 320 CBR mp3s, that takes care of the problem...all gaps are gone.  But not with the .ogg files.

Any ideas? Would love to figure out why this happens - and as I say - it's just certain random albums.

Thanks all!

Michael

Hi MichaelOH,

Could you kindly send us some OGG files to support@fiio.net. and then we can test it.

the line -out of the X1 is 100MW correct? what is the MW power of the line-out of the X5?

Leo5111,

The output power of X1 is >100 mW (16 Ω/THD+N<1%), It is not lint out.

bigbenrfan99, could you kindly reset the X5 first ? and then connect it with another headphone.

Btw, please kindly keep a distance away from Router or Your phone when testing.

I just got my replacement X5.  I'm now having a similar, but different, issue when using my Grado GR10.  There is an audible noise floor along with some intermittent noises in the left channel when using the headphone jack.  This issue is not present with my AKG K702 or when using the line out jack.  I also do not have the issue with my X3 or other devices.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

can you answer my question? the display allmost looks smaller then the x1 even though it says its bigger? or is that a optical illusion in the pics

I really can't say because I've never seen the X1. I know that a lot of folks take screen size into account, but the screen size on my higher end DAP actually has a smaller screen that my X5...and when I'm listening it's the last thing I'm concerned about. The screen size on the X5 is significant enough that I can see it clearly while driving, mounted console height in from of the passenger seat in my car. I use it in my car and plugged into my home audio via the Coax Out. It's really my everyday player, even though I'm not using the HP Out.

I've held both X1 and X5 in my hands.

I would not say that X5 has a smaller screen

While from photos this is not totally obvious, X1 is actually considerably smaller. So the screen to device ratio might be playing tricks, but screen to screen, I *think X5 has a bigger screen. Then again, X1 is a tiny device compared to X5.

The background noise is inevitable for the palyer, but it's kept at a low level. The GR10 has higher sensitivity and better sound isolation than the K702. So it seems to be a normal case that the background noise can be heard on the GR10 but not on the K702. You may try to set the Gain to Low (L) or turn down the volume and see if it can help.
