Man, I hope MSRP sticks for the US...
Man, I hope MSRP sticks for the US...
I've noted that upon initial FiiO device release, the official retailers up the price a bit. The E12 (MSRP $120) was sold for something around $150 by official retailers upon launch if I remember correctly, and the same happened for others as well. I'm expecting the X5 to be sold for $370-$400 in USA upon initial first batch release.
FIIO never disappoint when it comes to sound and value I would love the x5 to be compared to an AK 100 or even A 120 I have a feeling it will punch above it weight.
I have an X5 on pre-order, which will replace my Cowon J3. I have also bought a pair of Shure 845's (an upgrade from Phonak Audeo 232) after doing some research, so very excited at the moment!
Has anyone tried the X5 with the 845's? Would they be OK to drive straight from the X5 and would they sound better with silver cables?? Possibly sill questions but I'm fairly new to the high end audio game.
ummm why does noisy motel sell it for $419 when retail is $349. We going to have to pay over retail for hese things now? I remember a friend getting his ibassos for retail msrp day 1. Hmmm...
Good thing I found out about this before pulling the trigger on the X3. I think the extra 150-200 will be worth it
I personally think so. The X5 is better than the X3 is almost every way. The things the X3 does better can be fixed by the X5 through software additions so I'm not worried.
But do keep in mind, that FiiO, like any company, uses price tiers for consumers based on how much their budget is.
So yes, while the X5 is worth, check your wallet first. No shame in an X3, HiSound, Apple etc
If this is really 350 USD (CAD) when released then I'm sold

$419 is in AUD and includes all our local taxes and duties...
