Just out of curiosity I used the Financial Times currency converter to see what £289.99 is in US dollars. It's $480.35 this afternoon. $350 is currently £211.33.

I think I am just going to end up paying the £290, darn it. Sometimes I wish I had a cheaper hobby, like collecting stones from sea shores or something.

Now you're talking a nice little vacation visiting the US, still not going to be enough though depending on how long you're staying in the US and if you have to pay for a hotel. 1k barely pays for the plane ticket, you still have to stay somewhere and eat some food not to mention paying for transportation and some needed entertainment. It's very expensive going on trips abroad.
