Since I haven't heard from James or Joe about not discussing 2.3-beta here, here goes...
1. Building the DB is very fast and it recognized ~7,500 songs
2. Scrolling is very responsive when browsing through Categories but has coasting / overshoot when browsing through Folders
3. Volume coasts / overshoots
4. When playing "All Songs" play is normal (moves from song to song normally)
5. When playing an album from either Category of Folder browsing my X5 freezes after the first song I select and has to be reset (confirmed with multiple FLAC albums yesterday)
Has anyone experienced similar problems? I'm going to try Factory Reset, re-flashing the firmware, and see if everything's ok before and after building the DB.

Yup, I try very hard to keep convincing my wife that she can spend what she wants on her hobbies without checking in with me and I should be able to do the same. I honestly think she's just given up now...

Nope. She's taking a break from work while our boys are too young for school.
EDIT: It helps that she doesn't really have any hobbies since she's busy taking care of the boys, lol.

Good on you for making the choice to raise your child during the first formative years! I strongly feel that's the right decision

I mentioned this problem I've been having with my X5 before but didn't get a response. It involved getting this page come up when I press the folder menu in which the first 3 lines show: fla. and then each piece of music I select show no actual file going all the way down the list. Cannot even find that page from my laptop.
So, what I did was to reformat both cards using the formatter on the X5, loaded them with completely different files, all flac and when I selected to update the library, it got stuck at 1306 and would go no further. I couldn't find a way to locate the offending file so I just gave up trying. Is there a way of locating that file?
Then I ejected the card in F1 and tried to update again, in which I was successful, then reloaded the card in F1....and it said I was successful, but now every file I select has the same selection in it and won't play b/c no file. I tried to find the one mentioned in all the files and couldn't even find it on my laptop, in spite of the fact I know I installed it! I wish I had more control of my F5 on my laptop b/c I couldn't find any of the problem files.
When I scroll through to the end, only the last file works and is the only one of all that is not in the folder. Doesn't seem to be any work around, so I reformatted again and just put a smaller selection of files, hoping that I'll eliminate the offending file.
Seems like this is a bug of the X5. Anyone having a similar experience? I'm on the latest official update but have been having the same problem with the .fla page all along and having to make many selections before getting to the wanted card selection page.

Are you using a mac? If by fla. you mean ._ then these are files used by the mac to store extra info about the file and just serve to confuse the X5 (I'm basing this on your earlier post where you said that you saw something similar to what a Mac user was seeing). Use "Eject for Windows" or "CleanMyDrive" to get rid of them. Failing that, you might have a fake card - but I admit that I'm not really understanding your problem. Maybe some pictures would help?

Given that you have files showing up on the X5 that don't show up on your laptop I'd guess you are on a Mac or you have files being hidden on your Windows OS, which is quite common. It would help to troubleshoot if we knew what OS you were running.

BlueHarvest, which costs fifteen bucks, removes the hidden Mac Spotlight (metadata) files from folders. When I mount my SD Micro card on the desktop to load music folders into it, Mac's OS sticks three little files in to help Spotlight find them. They are not visible. So a simple right click and then a scroll down to BlueHarvest>Remove and the files are gone. Then I eject my card. I had to use it with my Colorfly C3 or the system would freeze up. With my iBasso DX50 I continue to run it, although if one slips through (user error) nothing bad seems to happen. I have an X5 that is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I'll be using it on that as well. No idea about Windows stuff, but for Mac users this should work well. Just build it into your workflow before ejecting the card.

You are going to love the X5! I sold my DX50 and bought the X5 and have been really happy switching.

Thanks for responding. First, I am not using a Mac, but a laptop pc. Second, since I've reformatted my cards, I'm no longer getting that bogus .fla page, thank goodness but another problem came up which I mentioned. After experimenting a bit, I believe I have somewhat mitigated the problem of the same file appearing in all the others. What I found out is that if I ejected the F2 card, the F1 card and left the other slot empty, I got it to work right but maybe the other card has that problem file that causes the X5 to get stuck when it tries to update the card. I'm not going to use the F2 slot for a while and don't really need it right now anyway.
So, the problem remains, how do I find the troublesome file(s)? Like I mentioned earlier, the update gets stuck at 1306, so maybe there's an error in the idtag. How do I find that one, when it doesn't show up in my pc laptop?

Hope so. I bought it hoping for better sound (without my C5 amp if possible, with it if not), and for its ability to play DSD/DFF files (got a bunch). But I keep seeing posts about how it is only playing them in 24/88, which is a bit of a bummer. I've down sampled them to 24/176 to play in my DX50 and they sound great. Was hoping to use the original DSD/DFFs and gain back a bit of quality I might be losing in the downsampling. Guess I'll be able to see (hear) for myself tomorrow. Does the X5 display sample rates while playing files as does the DX50? Also reading here that some 24 bit files stutter. Hope not, as I've got quite a few.

I'm going to use the DX50 in my classroom, I've got an amp and speakers she got for me years ago that I can plug it in to. I've gotten tired of using my iPhone to play music and having to unplug it if I leave the room and want to have the phone on me (trust me, as a teacher I WANT the phone on me).
