Just wanted to make sure it isn't just me...the X5 is kinda slow right?

It takes 10 seconds turn on, and about 3 seconds to display the new song you select

Sacrificing a bit of software speed for SQ doesn't bother me too much, but I just wanna make sure I don't have a faulty device. No one seems to mention it itt

Track switching on my X5 with FLACs is at least as fast as my Galaxy Note 3 playing MP3s, and I play 44.1/16 bit and 96/24 tracks on the X5.  The art switching, with display of track metadata, is slower.  But since I'm listening to music and can just scroll to whatever track I want if next/previous isn't good enough, then I don't have any problems with it.  I also tend to stuff large image files in anyway.

On a side note, I tend to get the fastest cards I can for sequential behavior, so the 64 GB and 128 GB do fine in my device.

Listening music is an essential part of culture in my live. But for many years it wasn't possible, not possible in this perfection how the X5 plays it for me now. At the beginning of the digital area with CDs I turned in a other direction. This sound quality wasn't mine. After a while I lost the fun to hear music and only a few month ago I came back to it.

Now I own two chains for playing music, both with the X5 as source. At home I use it with the ALO PanAm combi at the Audeze LCD-2 and outside or sometimes in bed I drive an E12DIY and an AKG K3003 with the X5. Direct driven from X5 the AKG K3003 has too less bass because his impedance is only 8 ohms and this is too low for the X5. Also the PanAm can't drive the K3003. But that doesn't matter, the real playground for the PanAm is the LCD-2.

Both combinations satisfy my wishes, although they sound a little bit different. Sometimes I love the one chain and to another time the other chain, it depends from the music.

Mostly I hear contemporary Jazz but some operas I couldn't miss.

In all cases the X5 satisfied all my wishes. That was really my best buy in the last few years.

Many thanks to FiiO!

There are 2 points, which are important for me because in most cases they will be ignored and they are not so good to explain. I use the firmeware FW2.0 and I'm glad with it and I use solid silver cables with teflon isolation because I don't know another cables which sound so realistic.

People asked us to unlimit the total number of the music library from 5,800. now we have a beta firmware which can allow add about 20,000 sound tracks into the music lib . but we need more people to help us test it whether it is stable or now.

and please noted that the system may become slow when there are so many sound tracks update to the lib.

the download address is http://www.filedropper.com/x5. and maybe someone can help me upload it to somewhere too.

BTW, in fact, there are none of Chinese user told us this is a big issues to them cause 99% of them use folder playback . that is why I ask you guys to help us. also it will more easy to us to check out the bugs of the beta version cause it is a big work

I feel the same as 99% of Chinese users.

Across four months of ownership, I still have not used any navigation features of the X5 other than folder browsing - and I have not seen any bugs with FW 2.0.

Here are some pictures of my X5 and HS6 used with an Anker Pro battery pack for extended play time (and preservation of the internal battery):

I'll give it a shot.  As a heads up, I'm one of those that actually topped out the ability to upload MP3s to Google Play Music, which has a cap of 20,000 tracks.  I mostly use FLACs, AIFF, and WAV on the X5, but I can easily cross that threshold in total (I think I have 25,000 MP3s alone).  As for folder playback, playlist usage along with tag filtering (playing by artist, album, genre, etc) is FAR more important when you have that much music.  As I reference existing material, and review stuff I've produced in 24-bit and 16-bit dithered versions, along with reviewing stuff from other producers, it isn't hard to exceed these low numbers.  This is also why I have around 11 TB (usable, not including losses to RAID parity striping and other redundancy) on my DAW.

There are a lot more "fringe" cases than one may think, and the fact that they're interested in using your gear and making requests of it should be celebrated, and not questioned.

I wish I can help you with this but my paycheck is still stuck => I cannot get a X5.

The best I can do for now is to upload the X5 FW to here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rnnkf8g1hrmdgv3/x5.zip?dl=0

So far the improved file limit has worked well. Scanned all 1100 of my songs on two 64 GB cards without problem. So far no playback issues of any kind either.

1100 files was never a problem, don't you mean 11.000?

Are there no risks involved concerning the player itself? If not, then I'll be a ''guinea pig'' soon...
