is it me or or is the equalizer not work with high res files?

EQ works with 44.1Khz/16Bits and 44.1Khz/24 Bits

EQ does not work with 88.2Khz/24 bits or 96Khz/24 Bits

I am using X5, FW 2.0

This bug is not present in bugzilla.

PS. Using lockscreen mode-2 and I had once that the screen was reversed 180 (up-side down) when locking and unlocking win 1/2 second. ( by pressing the powerbutton ).

Hi Joe,

Yes, guilty as charged on all counts :)

Long time no converse! - I hope all is good with you?!

I guess? Just had a third-rate dentist bungle up a wisdom tooth extraction on me, my tooth refused to budge and now my gum is all sliced up and swelling and whatnot :frowning2:

Couldn't resist changing my avatar when I saw this girl who looks for all the world like she's having a toothache... :p

I feel your pain. About 10 hours ago I had a hectic 2 hour straight session in the dentist chair myself, the entire right side of mouth is quite sore to say the least.

Whoa two hours... did he succeed at least??

Mine even tore up my lips while he was at it and now my mouth is full of ulcers...

Yes, it was successful, several fillings in one sitting, he nicked my tounge though during the process. I've had an extraction like you mentioned once before. They basically have to cut the tooth into four pieces, a big 'X' bringing it out in stages. I had to get stitches on my gum that time.

Good times! B-)

Oh, now I know why he was pushing DOWN on my tooth 90% of the time when I expected him to be trying to pull my tooth out! So now I may not just have a wisdom tooth still lodged there, but 4 pieces of a wisdom tooth... man I really need to go check with another dentist tomorrow

This is a known issue, the digital signal processing demand scales proportionally with sample rate on both the decoding side and equalizing side and the demand is too high for both to be implemented above 48kHz. I do not know whether this can be addressed in the future.

Consequently, I have also come from the Cowon S9: I used to have some Klipsch X10's until the wire went, and replace them with HiFiMan RE-400s as a temporary measure. THEN, I bought an X5. The RE-400s have amazing bass with the S9, but next to nothing with the X5. I decided to fiddle about with the wire of my old X10s to see what happens, and these are the combinations that I just don't understand:-

Cowon S9 + Klipsch X10 = Good bass
Cowon S9 + RE-400 = Tighter bass
Fiio X5 + Klipsch X10 = More controlled bass, still good
Fiio X5 + RE-400 = no sub or mid bass whatsoever (even when EQ has bass to maximum)

Perhaps if the resistance of the RE-400s was greater, I'd understand there may be an inconsistency: however, they are only 32ohms. Nothing at all really, at least not enough to warrant buying an amp for the purpose of more bass. The X10s are 50ohms, yet more bass? I just cannot fathom how one pair of IEMs can go from sounding great to terrible based on the player. I know that the S9 had BBE amongst many other settings, so the sound was far from natural. I'm going to purchase the Klipsch X11's in the near future just so I can retain some form of bass response, but the whole thing is confusing me. If someone is able to provide some insight into this, please do :)

Perhaps a bad contact? Do you notice any change in soundstage also? Like loss of stereo separation or loss of vocals?

Try wiping the jack on the RE-400 clean, rub it all round with a piece of cloth or tissue.

Also it's just a standard two-ring TRS jack, not a balanced TRRS jack or anything is it?

Bad to hear Joe, hope it gets better in the next day or so!

I have to say that the X5 has genuinely impressed me (as at work, and using SD card from my phone, only have 320kbps MP3s - with EBU R128 replaygain, so -10db from reference) - but, VERY good...

Going to use it on my way home with the E12 and see what I think...

At this point, considering this is a clear £200 less than the HiFi M8 for a whole 'system', this is making me question the future of the M8 in my equipment list...

Will reserve total judgement for a while yet though... - Especially for when I put some hi-res files on board :)

Joe Bloggs, when did you go pantsu- less!? (You're still with FiiO though, yes?)

I would love if when in USB DAC mode you could just turn the wheel to turn the volume up/down, even if the screen is off. Kind of annoying to press the power button, press the volume buttons and then use the wheel (not necessary but easier than the buttons to me)

Even in regular player mode this would be nice

Are there plans for things like this in the future?

Yes I am  Just couldn't resist a temporary change of avatar as this girl's expression is exactly the same as mine right now (holding my left jaw, trying to smile and failing) thanks to that botched visit to the dentist :p

Only way I can see to test it would be to get two brand new units to someone like Tyll Hertsens.  Put both on the scopes (under load) to confirm similarity.

Burn one in for 300 hours.

Remeasure the frequency response.

Then you'd have your answer.

If you can only tell how a headphone sounds from just the frequency response then I'd consider that the same frequency response that is remeasured a hard evidence that SS burn in is not real.

If you press and hold center button it wakes up the screen and continue to hold it will bring up volume screen.
