  So if the X5 sounds outstanding with the E12, would it sound even more so with the E12DIY (for fair comparison let's use it with the OPA1611 + LME49600 combo inside)? Has anyone tried pairing the two? 

 

 
Only DIY for me (using LME49600 and OPA1611), but with my UM Miracles it is seriously so close to my X-Sabre --> Bottlehead Mainline --> Beyer T1 desktop setup that it's scary. $1700-1800 of portable gear coming within a hair's bredth of matching >$4000 worth of desktop gear. Bravo Fiio!!

Regarding the lockscreen problem a lot of people seem to be having... my jeans are tight enough for them to be constantly squishing the X5 but I've never had any unwanted button presses using lockscreen 1.

Got the X5 a couple of days now and compared to any portable I've used is the best sounding., of course it is on another league with my other portables. I'm very impressed.
I have not use it with an amp yet (although I have E11 and a couple more) got it in high gain and it sounds very good that I've not even tried it with an amp, as I just mentioned. But I'm reading that a lot are coupling it with the E12? is it that much of a difference.
 
What I've noticed is if I long press the volume key it jumps to the next song!? guess is a bug that has to be fixed...

I didn't see a bug report on bugzilla for the issue with the volume key causing the player to skip to the next song, so I created one (bug #94 under "other.)  Hopefully it can be addressed in a firmware update.

I Dont know if its just me but when I compair my x3 volume with out using low gain the x5 seems
Low in sound level, to put it short, my x3 when at level 30 is almost 100 on my x5, If this makes any sence.

Well the X5 does have 120 volume steps over the X3's 60 The volume mapping may not exactly be 2 to 1 though the max gain in both cases should be the same.

Need to press on/off then volume. I much prefer dx90 way that volume buttons alter .., volume. Maybe a third lock screen setting for those of us not using D5 on the go, where you can alter volume by using volume keys be nice.

I'm sure FiiO has "other priorities" (even though I kind of hate the overuse of that cliche') but having a lockscreen that either:
 
1 - prevents commuting with the X5 in an accessible place
or
2 - makes volume changing painful
 
... allied to the fact my Belkin Headphone Adaptor and Remote Control only works on iPods... is really a big disappointment.

about the key mapping of lock screen, we have change it twice from the 1.0 version. and now it is the vote result from our end customers. hope you guys can understand that different people have different suggestion and so far this is the best.
 
unless we design the 3st lock screen solution. maybe you guys can find a better way and them we just put it into the new firmware in the future.

yes, from X1, we will support the remote control headphone . but we can change the design day by day and them we can't make nothing.

Looking forward to the FW release, it is a great DAP already and enjoying it every day! You did a great job on this player and if you carry on improving the FW and keep on communicating over here you will have a top tier product. one thing share with you , there are one customer usd a sandisk OTG U-disk, now he get 128+128+64=320g. lol.

Quite understand, and its a minor thing in the scheme of things. I'm not missing a setting am I where there is no lock screen? As a static user at home, I would like NO lock at all, just screen to dim and allow buttons to be used! Not everyone uses X5 out and about. It is good enough for home! Hardly used my hifi since it arrived.
