The Fiio X5 Thread

Thing is that the AK100 can go as high as 162GB of space while the X3 can only do 64gb max. And when SD cards higher than 64 come out it will do much more than that. Space is a feature that carries a premium.

Using a MicroSD to SD adapter I have a 128GB SD card on my X3. So yeah, it's not 162 but it is less than half the price. :)

OK - please explain to the uninformed....  Are you saying that there are 128GB microSD cards available but not 128GB SD cards, so you have to use the adaptor?  And is the implication that the X5 should be able to hold two 128GB "adapted" cards?

Hmmmm - I guess that means that the decision on how to go falls largely on how long it takes for an X5 (of X3) to read and catalog a new 64GB SD card you pop in it (for me atleast).  Can anyone advise how long it takes to read in the new card?  If it is a matter of a couple minutes, I wouldn't mind swapping.  Perhaps one 64GB card with "CD quality" music, and then swapping in the various microSD cards with high rez on them (not as many files per card)....

It takes no time at all on the x3. Seconds.

Cool.  Then I ain't cartin' around no 128GB card on a leash and ruining the portability of the unit!

I don't know that I would agree with "seconds" to update the database. And take a look at my pictures, it's still fairly portable and the leash is hidden. (no wheels required)
