The Fiio X3 Thread.
Apr 16, 2013 at 11:33 AM Post #392 of 17,484
If there is a successor to the X3, will it be named X5? FiiO likes to stick to uneven numbers, but it would feel a bit strange with a FiiO X5 considering the classic Cowon X5 DAP...

I'm hoping for a desktop audio player, especially after the dock port (and consequently a dock to keep it upright on a desk with cables neatly kept behind it) was taken off the original. Something like the Squeezebox Classic - reads off SD cards (adapters for the microSD in the X3 will make them easy to switch around) and thumb drives, maybe even an ext HDD, DAC based on E17 but puts out Redbook-standard 2v given it's not compromising for battery life. Also SPDIF and maybe a preamp out, that way fixed output goes to the headphone amp and preamp goes to active speakers.

But of course all that depends on the X3's success, so I still see myself buying it. At least on some situations where a portable set up is great but I don't need for important calls to cut the music I'd have a more serious player that won't require very efficient and somewhat colored/smoothed out cans like smartphones, I'd have the right player.

of course not bundled earphones or headphones. I think most people who buy X3 should own more than 2 or 3 different headphones or earphones.

Etc etc.

50/50 split

The number 4 in chinese isnt use sometimes as its bad luck. It sounds like "die" when you say it.

Yes, 4 is not a lucky number in China. so there will have not E4/X4/L4

Remember iBasso DX100? Was also slow at the beginning.
The firmware updates will fix those issues.
More news about X3 will be welcomed.
James are you around?:):)

I have a serious question. I am also interested in IEM to purchase and planning to use mostly with X3. Do you guys think this monster will drive properly well Heir Audio Tzar 350? Any review and specifications can be found in head fi easily. I know Heir Audio sells a bundle with AK100 but I must say that player is not something I am interested and I saw many many reviews that saying it is not something deserves that much money.

So tech guys in here, the ones understands from electronics and all. Do you think our Fiio X3 will handle with Tzar 350? Heir Audio says, Tzar 350 is very picky on DAP and recordings.

The 350 ohm impedence (at 1k etc etc) is probably what the wizard is referring to

I personally had no problems with units that support 16-300

In terms of driving power, there will be more than enough

The only way to know is with people who did Heir audio 350 with E17

My review

I only nominally tested it with the E07K. Which is kinda similar. No problems there. But i didnt compare with rendition 1to see what the wizard personally thought was best. He wasnt able to send the review sample out as it was during chinese new year when i got all the uiems.

For IEMs, I intend to use the Fitear To Go 334 with the X3, or the Aurisonics ASG-2 (my plan is to get a pair shortly after they're released).

I read as much as possible about both of them and all. I have a feeling like it is going to be ok without a portable amp. I have nothing against portable amps, they do awesome things but I don't like tons of things in my pockets

I believe you should be fine with just the X3. The E17 was plenty of power for even my Sennheiser HD650, which IMO are harder to drive than the Tzar 350. Don't let the high impedance scare you, they are suprisingly not too hard to drive.

I do believe the same too, thank you very much for your response. I guess I am gonna try it like that then if it needs more R1 amp can come later on.
