Those tariffs are reciprocal to the 100% plus tariffs placed on China by the United States. It isn't an official embargo, but might as well be. By definition, a tariff is a tax on the importer, which in the case of Aliexpress, is you. If Amazon imports iems from China they pay the tariff and pass the cost to you. A tariff is essentially an additional tax. There was an exemption for goods under $800 at one time, but that exemption is gone. Thus the prices you see at Aliexpress.I have never seen a company increase their prices towards another currency so drastically, it's like they don't want to sell it but they have to keep the listing. Makes absolutely no sense. I just heard a reviewer rave over the customization of them like a month ago and how good their customer service is...
I have been searching all over for a forum or thread explaining their reasoning other than "the company just hates USA now".
10 times increase on average for all items. there's nothing below $200 on their Aliexpress page.

What cable is on the BP here, sort of looks like a XINHS K08 but without the gold sparkles?Excellent question. I sure wish these tariffs hadn't derailed my opportunity to get a replacement for my BP, which has some channel imbalance, and instead of sending me a replacement like promised, Fengru just gave me a refund and left it there as our last contact before their website went dark for U.S. customers. But I can tolerate the imbalance by moving the balance over a couple notches, and listen that way.
Aside from that, I LOVE THE BP. Even more so that the Spark/Pirole Resin. I think the biggest differences is that since the BP is a single LCP DD, it's warmer, and the treble extension is more "natural" and has less air than the A6s. There's also a warmer presence in the midrange, with more note weight in the timbre across the lower mids and all the way into the upper mids, as it's DD timbre vs BA timbre. Similar dimensionality, but slightly cleaner and more transparent midrange with the A6s, but again, I notice the timbral tonality to be slightly more natural with the BP, while slightly less detailed, but it's in no way a detail slouch. That's what caught my immediate attention about the BP. The massive stage was one, and the amount of details it delivers is impressive for a single DD. Right up there with the Kefine Klean. Bass is slightly different, as the A6s has a single DD handling the low end, so it's got more rumble and slightly more presence across the bass frequencies, where the BP has a DD handling all the frequencies, so it gives up a little bit in extensions across the bass FR, so less sub bass, and less snap and punch in the mid bass, but the BP has a more linear, or uniform approach, so more balanced (it does not lack for bass energy or impact), and slightly less BOOM BOOM BOOM. The bass is freer to be unleashed vs the BP, where the DD has to handle it all, so has to be a bit more balanced in it's approach, so the A6s comes off as "bassier", though the BP isn't bass shy. Just more balanced. Both are about equal in incisiveness, with instrument separation, imaging, and spatial cues being fairly even, very good spatially, with that almost orbital stage delivering around the head cues. So it comes down to if you want that DD warmth and natural timbre, while giving up a bit of transparency and bass presence that the A6s has more of? Both give you impressive stage and detail retrieval. The A6s being a slight v, and the BP being a slightly balanced U.
How much will it sell for? This COULD be a cheaper alternative DAC for the Clarinet. I already have the Dethonray DAC they sell for the Clarinet, but it's $50.00. So if it's cheaper than that, might be a good alternative DAC to unlock the Clarinet's coaxial goodness?
You have rarely let me down with your rec's, and typically when you hit on something and I try it, it's pretty much conforms to my liking, but something tells me you might be overhyping the CK2V? Maybe it's because you're one of the only disciples for this IEM, delivered with this much hype (liking it to an $800 IEM that's gotten universal positive acclaim, in the Nautilus). So though you do create ample interest, it's also a bit side eye'ing just how much hype you're giving this set vs others.
Very intriguing, @jbfps116 !! More bass and midrange presence than the CCA Trio, but less treble extension and air. Would have been a no-brainer set, had it not been for these tariffs, making this thing almost a hundo instead of $50.00.
Do you mean his dedication to keeping up with ever single comment on the thread, or buying every single gear posted? LOL Or both?
Another front page feature!![]()
I'm sure glad it's the Elysian Apostle, because this thing is the BEES KNEES! It might be $1,700, but it's worth EVERY. DAMN. PENNY.

Penon Archangel is in the house!
Beautiful shells in my opinion. Red is not my favorite color but I really like these shells.
Alright, I have a good news and a bad news with these.
The good news is they fit me fine but I admit I have doubts in the long run, the shells are quite big.
The bad news, the cable is getting on my nerves like really bad.
That cable has an extreme angle where my index finger is touching the cable. So basically they don't sit properly on my ears. They slide a little to the right side and I'm losing the seal. Also could anybody confirm if Cadmus II 2pin is so so hard to plug into Archangel? Took 10 minutes to get it right.
Very hard to properly test the sound but I just kept my fingers on the shells while in ear to hear the sound. I can confirm Archangel is trully amazing with the sound they give you. From the bass, mids and treble everything feels balanced. That's about it for now.
I need to take a break and buy another cable because I can't with this. I blame myself for not owning any 2pin cable to test. The problem is if I order a cable now it will take almost 2 weeks to arrive and I don't have that patience.
The only cable that I can order for my local store is Fiio LS-4.4A so I have to put my faith in this cable that it will work with Archangel.
Sorry I can't give more imput with this iem because of the annoying cable.

So the shroud/ear guides seems a bit tight for you? Take a hair dryer and slowly blow warm/hot air onto the ear guides and you can reform them to a better shape for you. Try that. I think Cadmus 2 does need ear guides but you can also consider cutting out the ear guides. Either way try the hair dryer method.MAIL CALL 2 for today

I purchased almost every single tip you got there. Most didn't work out for me, but opposite of your dilemma. I got monstrously huge ear holes, and most of these tips, even in L or XL, are made for a "child's" ears, so they simply don't create any seal that holds or even created. MS42 all had to be given away, though I have one single pair that came with the NF Audio NM2+, that I cherish and hand on to to this day. Recently came across the AZLA Light Short, which assimilates very closely to the MS42 (not quite as bassy, but close), so these have taken it's place. NEO & Omni are hit and miss. Some IEMs lock in, while others don't, so I got lucky with a bit of tip rolling, but sets also reside in my tip boxes unused. The UC are BOSS level tips, as are the CP100+. Ride or die tips right there. HS20 are just too small for my ears. Compromised seal. I had high hopes too.MAIL CALL!
My eartips have arrived.
Alright, quickly with KBear KF02 (left) and KBear 10 (right)
KF02 the foam tips don't work with my small ears. I would need 2 size smaller for them to work.
KBear 10 are generic eartips that come with Juzear Defiant. They are comfortable in my ears but don't like how they sound so let's move on to the other eartips.
Next the new Divinus Prism LSR.
Put them next to Divinus OG and Divinus Wide bore for a size comparison. Also put Tangzu Wide bore for reference (all are S size in the photo)
I can't get a good fit with them using MG800, but they work a little better with ME600.
They boost the treble and the stage feels more expansive. They could have been really good but the downside for me is that they reduce the bass. ME600 has an amazing organic bass that makes it very good for rock and heavy metal, but Divinus Prism takes that magic away with the bass reduction. A shame really because I like what they do with the stage and treble.
Next up are KBear 4540. These are very soft, very comfortable and the seal is good for my small ears.
Sound retains its quality on both MG800 and ME600 so nothing to complain here. They come in 2 colors, brown and clear. You may ask, well, which one to get?
They are basically the same material with different color, they feel the same so buy whatever color you like.
Now the important part that I've wanted to tell you about this eartips. Notice in the pictures above that I put one brown eartip on the left and 2 on the right, why is that?
Because the one on the far right is actually Whizzer Easytips SS20.
Yep, they don't only look the same and feel the same, you literally can't tell them apart. My advice is to not buy the Whizzer tips since they cost more.
https://keephifi.com/products/kbear-4540-silicone-eartips?variant=41371609890862
https://hifigo.com/products/whizzer...BJPyZRhL74kOGIJBI0X88xgvTvd2ykLxTBwH2ZUWq-sWM
$4.80 all pack vs Whizzer all pack at $10.50 on Hifigo.
Next up Fiio HS20 and KT01. I'll put Softears UC eartips as well for comparison.
Left to right Softears UC, HS20, KT01 (all S size)
Quick take on KT01, they are not worth it so don't waste your money. The umbrella is very flimsy and you can't get a good seal because it breaks. Fiio HS18 eartips have the same flimsy umbrella but KT01 are worse.
The only good think about KT01 is that they are very comfortable for me. Too bad about the seal. They should release a new version with a firmer umbrella.
HS20 on the other hand are amazing. One look at the picture above you can see they look the same as Softears UC but the height difference makes it better for my small ears. In fact I could say HS20 feels like a Softears UC SS size instead. Really glad I bought these eartips. They make a big difference on my MG800. In terms of sound they are the same but the comfort on the long run goes to the HS20 just because of that height difference. I recommend to get both Softears and Fiio HS20 honestly if you can. They are very good eartips to have.
Next up we have KBear KT02. Very interesting eartips with an oval shape instead of the usually round shape like with other eartips. These eartips remind me strongly of Rose Technics SC liquid so I put them side by side and there are indeed some difference on how they look.
From left to right: KT02 XS, Rose SC XS, KT02 S and Rose SC S.
Big difference between Rose XS vs S, while KT02 have barely any difference. All of them are very comfortable and they sound the same to me. KT02 require more deep fit but I have no problem with them on my ME600 & MG800
I'm still kind of bias towards Rose SC just because XS size seem to offer better comfort long term but that's a nitpick really. I recommend to get this KT02 in your collection along with Rose SC.
Next up the Spinfits Omni and Neo.
Left to right W1, CP145, CP100+, Neo, Omni (all S size)
I'll start with Omni. Well they look very nice, they are smaller and I'm sure they could fit well in my ears... if I could put them on the nozzle. I don't know honestly, it says they work with 5.5mm nozzle diameter and my MG800 has 5.8mm but no matter how hard I try they won't go on the nozzle. So there is that I guess. I don't regret buying them actually cause you never now when you have an iem with smaller nozzles. I'm dissapointed though because I really believe Omni could help a lot with the comfort on my MG800.
Neo are actually working well on my MG800 and ME600. I was surprised SS size doesn't work well with MG800 cause it's breaking the seal so I've switched with S size instead, problem solved. But then I put SS Neo on ME600 and magic, they work.
This eartips are an upgrade from CP100+, Spinfit says, not me. Both CP100+ and Neo feel very comfortable to me so it's hard to tell if Neo has even better comfort. They sound the same as well, very energetic like a V shape sound. My advice? Can't really say if it's worth to have them both since they are
expensive. I guess I would go with Neo if you don't already own CP100+ since it's the new one but if you already have CP100+ just save your money.
Alright, last ones are NF Audio MS42.
I save the best for last. Now these eartips are absolutely mind blowing for my small ears.
They look similar as KBear 4540 but they have a more harder core with the same soft umbrella on 4540.
KBear 4540 on left, NF MS42 on right.
They seal so well in my ears I put them on both MG800 and ME600.
Again I'm blown away how good they seal and sound. But the best thing is actually the comfort. It's top of charts for me. Easily number 1 on my list for comfort, sound and seal compared with all the other eartips that I have.
Now I'll show all my eartips that I have since I've started this hobby:
First row from left to right:
Penon Liqueur B, Spinfit W1, Spinfit CP100+, Spinfit CP145, Spinfit Neo, Spinfit Omni, Rose Technics SC, KBear KT01, Fiio HS20, Softears UC, Divinus Prism LSR, Divinus Wide Bore, Tangzu Wide Bore, Tangzu Normal bore, Azla Origin.
Second row from left to right:
Penon Liqueur O, Penon PAC LStips, KBear 07, KBear 4540 Brown, KBear 4540 Clear,
NF MS42, KBear KT02, JVC EP-FX10, Final Type E, Fiio HS18, Dunu S&S, Divinus normal bore, TRI Clarion, KBear 10, KBear KF02.
My top 7 that I constantly use
1. NF Audio MS42
2. Rose Technics SC / KBear KT02
3. Fiio HS20 / Softears UC / Penon PAC LStips (all 3 similar, but HS20 takes the edge for better comfort)
4. KBear 4540 / Whizzer EASYTIPS SS20
5. JVC EP-FX10
6. Spinfit NEO / CP100+
7. KBear 07
Thank you for reading this far!
Penon is masterful with customer service. Never worry about Penon and CS. They are some of the best when it comes to that. The problem with Penon cables is that they like to use a lot of copper. This is not ideal for treble balance and control. As I mentioned, I'll shoot you over that KA015 cable, and you can try it out, and then advance with a true replacement once these tariffs have cooled? The bolded one looks (similar construction with 16 cores?) very much like this one, by Penon
https://penonaudio.com/penon-gs849.html?sort=p.model&order=ASC&limit=100
Unfortunately, none of the above will ship to me at the moment. In my communications with Penon, they will ship and they did say they would handle any taxes, tariffs; however, I’m not sure how clear they are on this.
First hit quote and then reply. first click quote and then click reply, write your reply, and then enter (not post reply), and then move on and rinse and repeat until you're ready to hit Post Reply.I’m not seeing any yellowing…
BTW, how do I quote multiple post in a single post?
There's quote a few that come across my desk, and especially some new rookies that are coming in strong (my deepest apologies for not remembering names, but as I do remember, I'll highlight you), but as for the vets, there @EnigmaFotos, @atechreviews, @ToneDeafMonk, @MakeItWain @Jaytiss, and @gadgetgod that come to mind, and though none of them are 100% in my personal preference, each has hit several times in my wheelhouse that I'm able to use their resources responsibly to make a decision on an IEM. That's the thing. I don't need experimentations, charts and graphs, and tests, or a 100% reliable source to glean trust. I just use each as a guide, and then I put it all together, and make a decision based on a baseline gathered from each. It's like going back to school and typing out a thesis paper, and using each one as a reference citation in the bibliography. Works for me.A note on two popular reviewers who are frequently discussed on this site. I respect their opinions but often do not agree with their reviews given my personal preferences. I consider Mark Ryan and Timmy as very competent guys who care about the hobby. I know they have probably stated this somewhere, but when they give grades to an iem they tend to have very specific sound signature preferences and many iems are not going to meet those preferences. Mark and I have had some chat exchanges and most people who follow him know he is a midrange-focused guy. Timmy appears to have a very specific signature in mind as well, but it is not as clear to me as Mark's preference. I appreciate reviewers who can think outside their boxes and I am sure Mark has done that to some degree. Timmy seems to be more rigid, which may be why he and Crinacle pair up so well. What reviewers do you guys listen to the most and why?
Something about the Five didn't sound... natural to me. I admit the Tino was maybe a risky set for me to go with, but then again, I like a gamble haha. Oh and I almost liked the S20 '24... I mean I DID like it, it's just that I thought it did not sound as good as the $200 price led me to believe. I decided to take advantage of the limited edition hype and sell it.
This reviewer said he usually prefers neutral-bright sets, and still loves the Tino, so maybe I'm in luck ?
Well I can safely say the Wan'er 2 not only doesn't look like the other Wan'er's [shell shape], it doesn't sound anything like the other ones. Way more detail, while still maintaining those sweet vocals [although they're maybe a bit brighter than the other sets.]
You're getting a lot of AMAZING sets in lol... get HYPED! My only complaint about the Aether is sometimes the mid-bass feels a touch light, but the sub-performance is good enough, I can mostly overlook that.
I have not listened to the Jaws a TON, but I'm quite impressed with what I've heard so far. treble-head/detail-head's dream.
I'm not sure I watched his review about the EW300, but it has a bit sad-face on the thumbnail... yea I love that set. Use it at work... with a gold-plated cable for some richness.
Also, I think @ToneDeafMonk would love the Tiandirenhe TD20 because it's warmer and bassy. It's an example of a thicc set I still own and enjoy, for the most part.
Sets he should avoid are likely the XINHS HS80 and Nautilus, with the later being very bright, but amazing IMO.
Thanks! Yeah, pretty excited about the incoming IEMs, and now I got the Tanchjim Fission coming in as well, so more goodness for my ears!
So there's going to be moments where a bright neutral lover will find a commonality IEM with someone who is a warm neutral or warm neutral/bassy lover. But it's rare that you can find a match going the other way, where you'll find a warm bassy lover who might have sensitivities liking something bright neutral, so it's not typically that reciprocal, except in some rare occasions (the Dita Project M comes to mind, but it's not even 90% either).
Best thing since sliced bread in it's price category? The second coming?I got to try the Crinear Meta courtesy of a friend. Here are a few shots.

Yep. Very good review, but I wasn't as forgiving about that pillowy soft and undefined bass. Took away from the overall pleasure of the listen, and was a deal breaker for me. You mentioned this, which pleased me, but you were a bit more forgiving of this trait, or lack thereof. If it was pillowy soft, but yet had a measure of note definition (the Penon Fan 3 comes to mind, which is pillowy but note defined), then it could be excused IMHO. giving up some impact and authority for some note resolution, but it comes up short in both, so I boomeranged this set (though upon revisiting it later, I was a bit more accepting of it, but not to purchase it again at cost).Hi folks, I’ve just published a review of a true engineering marvel - the Simgot SuperMix 4 Quadbrids.

You're welcome! Yeah, though I can't sell my set, it was starting to slip down the rotation due to not being able to find a synergy that was tight enough to have it deliver with any authority. It's trebly and thin. Then I started with AZLA Crystal 2 tips. Pure copper cables, that avoided any silver or palladium or graphene, and then gave it warm sources, and BANG!! Like your experience, it moved up the ladder again. It's ok to massage if you have to. Some IEMs are plug and play, and other might require some massaging, but if it works to bring out potential, I think it's worth it.Wow great suggestion! I put up my P7 for sale because it was under used and falling behind in hierarchy behind the Pilgrim, IE600, Notbrand Pursuer, Fatfreq Quantum and Alpha Omega Ra. I just connected it to the EA Ares 2 cable, plugged it into the Nunchaku and the FC6 and it really does sing. Back on rotation again and off the market.
I would have added you to the lists, and I forgot @Jaytiss (my apologies, buddy! You're one of the guys I watch pretty much every video, so a huge omission on my part), but I was under the impression that @Vonbuddy was asking about YT reviewers more than written reviewers, otherwise, my list would be a mile long LOLI just finished my time with the Apostle and you're absolutely right. It is REALLY good. Easily my favorite Elysian by a long shot. Review will be posted next week
The Performer(insert math)7 is probably my favorite AFUL to date. It's become one of the gatekeepers for me. The value and price to performance are insanely good!

Nah but honestly the reviewers I watch/read most are the ones who I talk to and have come to know their preferences and them mine. @Jaytiss @MakeItWain @EnigmaFotos @FreeWheelinAudioLuv2 @AudioAmigoReviews @theintention @domq422. I have swapped sets many times with these fellas and they never let me down on recommendations or advice
Awesome! M21 looks like a great little device. Also me seeing all the cassette themes popping up lately:
![]()
My M21 is closing in on my porch, but I bought it without that cassette protector. As I explained in the M21 page, as well as privately to HFG, I'm not a fan of that retro thing, as I grew up smack dab in that era, and compared to the resolution and performance we have today, that old Walkman cassette was like listening to a old transistor radio on AM. So I'm not as apt to get feels for that old stuff, but that's just me. I like where we are now vs the ancient tech.

lotta audio porn too....those are quite photogenic IEMs. if i put it aside of Dita Fealty and ask which is priciest, no doubt DX1 will be the one....craftmanship and sound quality wise! thinking about it, i ''should'' have compare those to Project M since it's notably better balanced and more mid licious, smoother, more neutral too....which make me think: is it the new neutrality standard? sure it's bass light but not bass less....and more musical than colder neutrality (and shoutier) i've heard before.
Pros:
-neutral and musical
-effortless clarity
-natural timbre
-mid centric focus
-well extracted and tactile bass line
-beautiful male and female vocal, non shouty way
-smooth yet speedy attack transient
-great imaging
-some treble sparkle-brilliance
-instrumental and acoustic music specialist
-refreshing tuning that is mature but not plain boring
-prime construction and design
-good sound value
Cons:
-not most textured and clear mid bass (dark kick drum)
-not very punchy nor rumbly (anti basshead)
-average soundstage
-not most versatile tuning when it come to anything beat heavy
-not widest and most enveloping instruments and vocals presence (very centered)
-driver flex issue occur (pressure build-lack of venting)
-clarion eartips is detrimental while wide bore over warm the tonality (affect attack control)
-so so cable
simply put: those are baby Mystic8, very similar tonality yet notch crisper on top and ''''''''''bassier'''''''''''' with DX1. gotta applause companies that take their own musical path, DX1 isn't Harman nor V shape, it's unique (apart Mystic 8 similarities)

Headphoneus Supremus
Spent the whole late evening and most of the morning listening to this combo. It was truly an addicting experience. TRN Shell (with ivipQ-512 cable) + Sony NW-ZX100 (untethered). Mind blowing performance by a humble rig. But I spent so much time with this, that for the next couple days, I'm going to give my earholes a break, and I'll be using headphones at least through Sunday morning? Been awhile since I did this (last time was last year when I got two ear infections), but I need to give my ears a break from having tips jammed inside them. For my own sanity.
Stay tuned....
