First impressions of the Nunchaku were mostly a combination of 'oooh', 'mhmmm', 'wow', and 'Puck yes!'.

But, this one most definitely pushes bass a tad. No matter what combination of setup parameters I try.

Loak 2, which I tried first, isn't bass-shy to begin with, then it turned into a rumbly beast. No bad thing! But dependent on mood.

Sets with lesser bass or bass of imperfect quality get aided greatly. P7 is currently getting a quick pre-bedtime play and it's wonderful.

Using mine as I type with the Sony NW-A306, and the Defiant. Want to cut that bass right off? All you do is turn on the HP filter, and do away with that "pesky" bass!

Interestingly enough, bass is the most common knock of the Nun, as in not enough bass presence. Good thing you haven't tried the DCE, because if the Nunchaku has borderline too much bass for you, then the DCE would come off as a bass cannon.

Nicely tuned single DD from TinHiFi, I am amazed how far they can squeeze a single DD to do both bass and treble well extended.
I really like them both, but slightly prefer the cheaper C2 2025.

Oops. Turns out my measurments were wrong, too soon to get excited - I will update it later, I knew something wan't quite right Sorry.

Yeah, this makes much more sense. Turns out Peace EQ was on when I mesaured them
Though my review is not affected since I listen on my apple dongle on my phone / my dap.

And btw why is the ibasso dx 180 gain so damn high, even on the low gain setting? I dont use it past the step 6-8 and it goes alot higher on the volume button but i just can't use it because the gain is so high.

And there is such a big difference between every step on the volume so i can't find the right volume level from song to song.

But on the fiio i have so many more steps to use before it gets to loud.

Is my unit defect? Do i need to factory reset it? And this behavior is with the same Iems.
Or is it just designed like that?
It really is annoying for sure.

Semi-related, the DX180 definitely eases up the bass response on the TX04, and the result is pretty wonderful. I also found the H20 to be a fantastic pairing with the new DAP. Had some weird battery drain this AM while it was in my bag but I am hoping it’s just new battery cycles evening out… we will see.

Enjoying this new Men I Trust album on the DX180 / TX04 immensely, beautiful atmosphere on these warm and intoxicating IEMs.

How did you even get these so early? I thought the initial promo was an early offer only for US buyers, so they could get ahead of the tariffs?

I just replied to that Early Bird Email. I asked them kindly about the Early Bird offer and when it would be available for outside US customers.? They replied within an hour.

Next minute I’m buying it early. They sent me a PayPal link. I’d suggest just emailing them. They usually reply within the hour or earlier. If it’s in their business hours. Have to say their customer service is world class.

Thank you so much for confirming this because only 6 on the volume seemed so low to me, and i dont like it with sensitive Iems or even regular sens ones. I want to get just the right volume on every track and with this sensitive volume control it is hard to get there.

It is even to loud or low, bit on the fiio Jm21 it is just right and it has so many steps, but well this dx180 sounds incredible. But now i know my unit is not defective

But still i dont understand why they have to give it superhero level gain, or are these iem just that easy to drive?

But the Fiio has almost the same power level of not even more and they got it right at least to my taste.
Anyways its ok since owning a dap is something special and i feel blessed to have it, and many whatever the ibasso team did with the airy treble is just wonderful. Love it

I am just going to pop this here, some folks might be curious enough to get a bit of basic gear and do this themselves to try to understand the differences that source devices do or don't make.

Listening with AuR Audio Neon Pro 10 x BA IEM with a switch box set up and very careful volume matching, hard to do by ear but persistence paid off.

iFi Diablo - apparently sharp and incisive with a tough of Burr Brown warmth, a departure from the normal iFi house sound, so they say.

OG Chord Mojo - warm with a little Rob Watts magic details, I think that is what folks say.

How is the tonality, what about sound stage width, height and depth, instrument placement on the soundstage ??

Not a scrap of difference in any music I listened to, not in tonality or staging - nada.

I am still listening and have no idea whatsoever which is A and which is B despite listening for about an hour and a half because even flicking the switch quickly back and forth reveals nothing but a constant flow of identical music.

Of course it would be easy to say gear not revealing enough or hearing not good enough but I don't think criticism is fair if you are not willing to actually try this for yourself.

In sighted listening I swear the Diablo is punchier and crisper, actually testing with a little effort at a decent methodology indicates different.

I will try other gear combinations to see if I find differences like get talked about so often, I would like to think all my gear wasn't wasted money and something sounds different at least

Phoenixia sticks out a bit more. Both are comfy for my big hearing holes.

Just noticed VP-07 has the same vent system as Inawaken Dawn, redirects excess airflow back to the rear of the DD.

Oh yes i would like one of these boxes because the most fun i have with Iems ka comparing them and get to know then inside and out. And this box is a good tool for that
