The wait is finally over—sooner than expected, though.

TRN has officially launched the Medusa on AliExpress for $49.99. With this coupon, you can get it for $37.99 $29.99, here you go: Code-KYVMAVXEFOJU.

As of now, the TRN Medusa is the most expensive IEM in the TRN Aquatic Series. However, this price is reasonable considering that it features a second-generation 12mm DLC driver (compared to the Conch, which had a first-generation 10mm driver). Speaking of the Conch, the Medusa shares all the accessories previously bundled with it. These include an aluminum case, three sets of TRN T-tips, three sets of standard TRN tips, and a pair of foam tips. Additionally, the Medusa comes with the new TRN Sea Serpent modular cable, a new iteration of the RedChain modular cable (both QDC). Unlike the RedChain, which is a mix of silver-plated copper and oxygen-free copper, the Sea Serpent is fully silver-plated (currently priced at $20 on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007036086908.html).

Funny thing: I was prepared to buy the Medusa right away, but TRN contacted me, saying I won the giveaway they held months ago because I guessed its official price correctly based on the photo alone. I still can’t believe it! Recently, I’ve been a giveaway machine—first the Merga, and now the Medusa. Maybe I should consider investing in the lottery…

As a side note, the tuning looks very promising too!

So, here are some images from AliExpress: (there are some others too, but I’ll just stick to the following because I don’t want to take up too much space!)

Thanks for the code! With the code, coins, and $2.00 off coupon, I got them for $27.00. Again, I'm getting that modular cable and the great tips for $20.00, so I see it as I'm getting the IEM for $7.00 LOL

We were talkin' about Tripowin cables earlier and I wanted to share the "Amber" on my Simgot EM6L's.. like the combination, the color, and its delicate appearance. It's not the best Tripowin cable, but its so soft and at least a slight upgrade to the original cable.
btw, the tips are the DUNU S&S.

I have one of those, and it's currently on the SFR MT300 I mentioned earlier. It is a spectacularly delicate and feels great and never tangles. The braiding in the Tripowins are what make them such great value. High quality braiding.

I have the MT300 and think it's pretty decent, especially considering how long ago it came out.
Certainly unique.
Completely unique. I might go as far as saying it's the most uniquely tuned and sounding IEM in my entire arsenal. But also fun!

Still loving the Himalaya!
Today's special: Rapture by Anita Baker.
Heavenly combination here, y'all...

Did a quick AB with this song that someone suggested not long ago with all my 'cheapies' (≤100€).

Top to bottom row, from left to right:

EA500 LM - a bit thick in bass, sibilant now and again, too sterile and cold, distant vocal placement,
CVJ Mei - thin, unrefined, lacking bass weight and resolution, thin vocal,
EPZ Q5 - shy in treble, not nuanced enough in bass, okay vocal placement,

KiwiEars Singolo - okay bass despite the slight lack of note separation, unnatural and uneventful treble, enjoyable vocals,
VE SIE - intentionally thick bass and hefty low mids sound fine but blunt the notes, shy treble but nicely done, good vocals but muted due to an overpowering hum of everything sub 500hz,
Celest Phoenixcall - that weird pinna can be heard with electric guitars, but is balanced well with sufficient bass and sweet treble, vocals are never drowned, :relaxed:

Tangzu Wan'er - Lo-fi in comparison to most others, but a tasteful balance, bass is weak, treble is uneventful, by far the clearest vocals in all the mess surrounding them,
TINHiFi T5S - strikes the greatest balance, correctly dosed bass without bloat, treble is just clear of annoyance and avoids sibilance, both vocal variants are clear and well positioned,

Lastly, I plugged in the AüR Aure just for craps and giggles, and yes, it is indeed on a whole other level in whichever regard.

Lastly lastly, I plugged in the Meze 109 Pro and that is just a whole new experience altogether. This dude is screaming directly into my brain, guitars are alive and drums actually consist of individual drums. Sharp at times though, and definitely not as easy to fit and forget you're wearing these as the Aure's.

This was quick & fun!

For anyone else who wants to give a go. Both bass and treble needs to be of good quality for this track to shine. Reward is that lovely melodic tune that keeps swirling every so often through the number.

Every time I try my Phoenixcall I think "this is good" but it doesn't do anything that other IEMs in my collection don't do way better. I wish it had more air. Gorgeous shell though. One of the best.

Maybe me who recommended it, one of my faovorite albums. Quite ambitious release from Swallow the Sun.
CD1 is named Gloom, this is doom metal with some death metal also.
CD 2 Beauty, more of a relaxed meleodic metal style.
CD 3 Despair, this goes into what is called funeral metal. A sub genre of doom metal.

The names are quite fitting for each CD, and since I talked about this I now need to listen to the album. Going for my metal master Bonneville

I have also just set up this First Aid Kit as I like to call it for when that highly vicious Tip Roll Bug comes around.

1000013476.jpg

In the left corner, give a huuuuge round of applause to the following contenders: KBear 07, Tang Sancai, Canalworks, Final type E, Symbio, and W1!!

In the right corner, a bunch of well-established names as well: Spiraldot, Spring, Velvet, S&S, Coreir, and Clarion!!

The wait for the inevitable bug to come and bite me begins now.

Have you tried the Kiwi Ears flex or is that on your radar? My understanding is that it's good for bass/mids and really tames down the highs. I've been tempted to try them.

No Penon Liqueurs? That's my go to tip now. I use them on just about every iem.
