For those who just start jumped into the Hobby, combination between IEMs + DAP with roughly 2x price of the IEM is good enough.
but then there is an upgrade path, where you want to upgrade the IEM and after that the DAP.
you don't particularly need kilobucks DAP, but high end DAP indeed stretch your IEM better, some IEM will strecth just OK, some will have great benefit with great amping, like planars.
Apple dongle + amp is viable too at much lower price.

DAP is convenience and we need to pay dearly for that. At the point when DAP sound as good as DAC+amp by itself, it is a behemoth and costs a fortune.

There is a big problem bro.

The significant other will know that a new IEM arrived in the mail. There is no way to disguise this away.

If it were some generic looking black or silver shelled IEM, we can easily pass it off as an older IEM from the drawer if the wife/GF asks. These exotic colours will 100% let the cat out of the bag.

Latest audio enthusiast essential accessory is now a spray can of Matt Black or silver paint?

@freelancer

After my last Kailua Trpowin x HBB sound design novelty, I’m pretty sure the luminaries just go ahead and simply “OK” various tunings? As the very last Kailua doesn’t sound at all like the QKZ x HBB Kahn or the BLON x HBB Z300? So they simply put their name on them, which in a way is better as no one can pigeonhole their sound preferences. Obviously this is an extreme generalization, yet so far this is how I see it?

dunu est 112 is neutral sound?
Better get Dunu SA6 these days. The SA6 is like perfection of EST112 despite not having dynamic driver.
The 112 Est have very roll off treble extension on already soft EST. Kinda wasted the EST for me, bad implementation to be honest

Same advice here. I was very disappointed when trying EST112 the first time. If you want that sort of bassy powerful sound and you want Dunu, go with Vulkan instead.

Otherwise, SA6II is the one to go in their current line up.

does worth look at new BGVP Phantom 8driver iems?
If you want to face ignoring user and buyer questions, then yes. I bought bgvp dm9 and after that I turned to their official mail with a question about the type of internal device of the headphones. Instead of an answer, they began to ask "Where and when did you buy bgvp dm9?". Later I decided to take a closer look at their next model - bgvp phantom. Since there are no high-quality, real photos of the phantom on the Internet, I wrote them a request for a photo of the sound guide type. Since there is no clarity how and due to what the ear pads will be held. My question was completely ignored and received no response. From that moment on, my interest in bgvp disappeared.

Fiio FX15 graph via IEC 711 coupler. 8 kHz is a coupler artefact peak. The graph looks quite fierce, but it doesn't sound so shrill on actual listening.

Fiio FX15 Final.jpg

The FX15 is a 1DD + 1BA + 4EST IEM. It has 1 tuning switch that can toggle between treblehead (red graph) and a more balanced (blue graph) tonality.

The FX15 is a very technical IEM, extremely resolving with top notch imaging and micro-detailing with good soundstage and layering. Super tight bass with great texturing. Lots of air and sparkle.

On the red treblehead graph, it is the more resolving of the 2 tuning options, but yes it can get sibilant and harsh for treblesensitive folk, though trebleheads and folks who like something for critical listening will like this option.

On the blue graph, the FX15 becomes more balanced, it is slightly less resolving, but more controlled in the treble and still gives great technical chops with lessened sibilance. There's a 10 dB ear gain on this setting, and vocals are forwards and at the border between shoutiness and forwardness. As per the Fletcher Munson curve, when the FX15 is used at low to moderate volumes, this upper mids just has mild instances of fatigue.

The FX15 is definitely one of the more technical and analytical sets I've tried so far. Detailed review soon with A/B comparisons.
how fx15 compare vs campfire solaris or andromeda or ara? i would like upgrade from my meze rai penta to more neutral brigter sound with lower bass present

EST112 its a hated/loved example on the community.

I really like that set, its a kind of relaxed one, similar to some ISN/penon profile, with no peaks on high frequencies.

I love them because they are closed to my preferences (also Super*reviews got same opinion)

Hmm…🤔

I might just need to magic tape the dongle…

After trying that DD hifi splitter with several power source, I come to the conclusion “taking sound directly from lightning sounds better“ The splitter does add power but somehow blurs the timbre😅

But still I need to spare battery for the sake of apple’s poor battery implementation, the wireless charging magsafe powerbank serves the roll.

Some of the DD Hifi statements are pure marketing. Their DJ44S product starting from 99 USD, is a scam. It is just a 4.4mm to 4.4mm adapter with high-quality solder and cables inside. The statement about the ground for Sony DAP that they are promoting with a product is a false statement, and 99.99% of the time won't make any benefits. But they are using high-end solder Supreme inside the DJ44S adapter that will add coloration to the sound and make you believe that extra ground makes the sound better.

About using the iPhone as a source. I ended up using it with only Airpods Pro when I needed portability. And using my DAP as a source or Bluetooth receiver from iPhone with more quality IEMs. I decided to buy a high-end DAC with Bluetooth for my iPhone because they are even bulkier than my DAP, and AAC codec limitation from iPhone still sounds lossy. DAC dongles I use now only with my iPad and Macbook. However, I need to try L&P W4, but until iPhone with Type-C release, not planning to do that.

im like sound from artists, not lush or warmed or bass added to many iems,so neutral natural sound searching. have meze rai penta, but it not my cup of tea, well sweet sound, one of most comfy from all iems, but want add somethink more natural sounding that not need EQ. my hifiman ananda best sound i like, neutral bright.lots of details but not fatique listen for hours. so,dunu est,fd7 ,campfire ara is good option? also see at new fiio FX15 as it has extended treble with est drivers. sound of 10khz-16khz highs my ears like. p.s. just for fit-dunu not too big if my ears is best for meze rai penta size?
