It up now, I want a new TWS. So it's ordered, loved the FD11. Can be fun to see what they have in TWS.

@Ichos beat me to it 💪
The FW5 was genuinely impressive for a soundstage head like myself. Not interested in a simplified version of that one, so I will live vicariously through you.

A little tough price to swallow, there is many CS based dongles now for much less.
Design is nice with MoonRiver 2

The original Moonriver dongle was a bit meh. Hope this one is better.

$190 USD is quite ambitious though. Top up a bit more and you can get stellar benchmark dongles like the Questyle M15 and Cayin RU7.

(tongue in cheek)
Could someone be a lamb and audition the IKKO OH10S ?

I would, but the OH10S sounds like it has the exact same drivers as my OH10, with a new faceplate

HiFiGo, via their AE store

[edit to add]
and, and, . . . if you add an item that takes you over the $200 mark, you can use the universal AE code "US30", for another $30 off. They're practically giving them away.

An actual discovery (for me)...

Penon sent me this with the 10th AE 2 weeks ago.

HiFi Boy Case.jpg

I looked inside to find a cheap-looking IEM and didn't think about listening to them because I thought it was a crappy free IEM that I didn't order nor pay for. It just arrived in the same box as the 10th AE, which I was very excited to listen to. I picked the IEM case option for the free gift and thought they just added a free IEM with the case. The default cable was cheap-looking and cheap-feeling, so I just put it aside for 2 weeks.

Fast forward to this morning, I decided to try this IEM out. Stock cable, stock tips, it sounded... GOOD! I was surprised by how good they sounded, but it was missing bass and sounded thin. Really good though for a free IEM. So I did a bit of research to find out more about it. Found out this IEM got a bit of hype back around 4-5 years ago. Looked for it on Penon's website. It's $150 and a 1 DD, 2 BA set! WHAT???

Penon gave me a free $150 IEM with the 10th AE purchase? No way! 10th AE was already a bargain for its sound quality and performance, but they also included a $150 IEM too? Wow!

I then decided to switch the crappy cable for a cheap but not crappy cable: the NiceHCK PurpleSE 4.4mm balanced, and slapped on some JVC Spiral Dot tips. I wanted more bass presence and thought maybe this cable would bring it out. OMG it sure did! The PurpleSE unleashed this IEM's potential. Everything opened up, improved, and it now has good bass and slam. I was shocked. Not sure if it's the cable or the switch from 3.5mm to 4.4mm, but what an incredible and drastic change in sound quality.

HiFi Boy OS V3.jpg

I was sad to learn this company HiFi Boy disappeared after releasing a few IEMs. If they had stuck around, maybe they could've been a big player in the booming chi-fi market. They were ahead of their time lol.

Anyway, just wanted to share this incredible discovery. Thank you Penon. They sure know how to make their customers happy. I can see why they have a dedicated group of fans. I'm now one of them!

do anyone checked this out?

apparently you need to chat with the Official store rep to unlock the special promo,
from Og price of $89 -$45
Wow! I would not think it is possible!
Real! Ordered.
I just got similarly looking/spec-ed Tanchjim Space at almost twice (and a great dongle).

On current Tempotec sale, E44 at below $60 can be recommended - my favourite one only rivaled by Space. (The BHD pro can be similar/better (?))

Also, if for some reason you may need the warmest DAC - Tempotec Sonata III filled this niche well for me.

(I am not affiliated with Tenpotec by any means, loved them even before $45 coupon :))

Have u tried the Cayin RU6? Wow that's the warmest dongle DAC/AMP I have tried, with a tube-like analogue sound. Not very technical though, but it really coats the entire music in a warm honey bath haha. It uses an R2R DAC instead of the usual delta sigma DACs. I just didn't like that the RU6 has hiss and some EMI and it was a battery hog when paired with smartphones.

I recently purchased the Cayin RU7, and that's another warm dongle DAC/AMP (less warm than the RU6), but it is superior in technicalities, with a huge soundstage and layering on a dark background. It uses a 1-bit DAC technology, something unique. The RU7 is super smooth and musical, yet still holding good technical chops. Has 400 mW on 32 ohm for the 4.4mm output, so it can power most gear out there, other than outliers. Unfortunately it is a battery hog too, all that power has to come from somewhere, so no surprise. It fixes the hiss and EMI problems of the predecessor RU6 thankfully (I think the RU6 is now on a sale on Aliexpress summer sale to clear stock due to the new RU7 launch).

Wrote a review on the RU7 here, one of my better purchases of 2023:

Just so everyone knows they're all bad influences in here: I didn't snag any of the older models that had minor sales on them at Linsoul and instead snagged the Yanyin Canon 2 with my discount card because it's brand new. Will report back on what I think from the newbie perspective. I feel somewhat confident since the responsive is really similar to what I've liked at lower price points. Will it be a huge success? Will this be my lesson in blind buying expensive things? Can't wait to find out.

Somehow I remember the Canon 2 as tribrid with 8 drivers, not a 1+4 :dt880smile: The graph looks quite promising. Looking forward for your impressions, though I am 99% sure that you will love it. Few mid-fi IEM can truely disappoint nowadays, especially something sanely tuned like that one.
