Yeah scratch the Tanchjim Zero Ultima, weak layering, soundstage, and timbre. The Bunny however is fantastic in all these areas, incredible for the price, plus you get the detachable cable.

I didn't like the OG Top either. Found the bass too slow and not coherent with the rest of the frequencies. But maybe that's just me.

Furthermore, cymbals sound harsh on OG Top.
OG Top can't play songs like Bocchi the Rock very well.
For me, Hype 4 >>> OG Top

Yep, Phoenixia was the first graph I thought of when I saw hbb's Top Pro graph. Similar with those thicker lower mids for that full note weight.
I do wonder how the Top Pro would compare to the Quantum, which is also both musical and technical. It's another set which I think demonstrates diminishing returns very well, especially if you can avail of the special promo for Deuce backers who bought direct from FATfreq.

In today's video, I check out the Tanchjim's current flagship single dynamic driver IEM, Tanchjim Origin. With meticulous craftsmanship featuring metallic ear shells, the IEMs boast a rich and premium build quality. It fits me nicely, and is quite easy to power as well. Been enjoying with most of my sources including the FiiO SnowSky Echo Mini, HiBy R8ii, etc.

Sound wise, Tanchjim has always impressed me with its smooth and life-like natural tuning profile. The Origin is no different, the pair produces clean, crisp, and smooth sound profile. It has good dynamic bass response, which is pretty balanced not overwhelming at all. Sub-bass reach is good enough to give a good sense of rumble complementing a clean mid-bass punch. Midrange sounds very clean and defined with Vocals coming out to be quite natural and well-textured. Treble region is pretty smooth and does a great job for a single dd set.

I have a special place in my heart for single DD IEMs, and Tanchjim Origin impresses me as well. Check out my review description of this beautiful IEM.

Why I love the Tanchjim Origin(Pros):-

1. Well, Very natural and smooth sound profile.

2. The pair is perfect for relaxing sessions for me.

3. Good enough bass response, punchy and dynamic.

4. Midrange is very clean and crisp.

5. Stage is very immersive and captivating.

6. Effortless Sound Profile.

My only takeaway with Tanchjim Origin(Cons):-

1. The metallic shells are fingerprint and scratch magnets. They are also a bit hefty(heavy).

2. I wish Treble had a bit more excitement and forwardness (subjective).

3. Included cable could have been better. It is thin and has only a 3.5mm termination.

Jays Audio Top Pro review really emphasized the treble quality on this set. Might be a good one for the trebleheads. Looks a bit too lean in the <250Hz area for me.

@FreeWheelinAudioLuv2 Is it just me or does the Bunny do layering actually pretty damn good? Also cuts down on hiss, sounds great out of my Shozy Alien, wondering how much I’m missing not going balanced?

Wish I could tell you, but I don't do balanced with the Bunny. I don't go balanced unless an IEM is hard to drive or likes juice to perform (like the Aether), so if it's just a regular efficient IEM, it's 3.5mm. As for layering, yes sir. It's balanced, musical, yet detailed. Especially for a $20.00 IEM.

Yeah, the Ultima has gotten decent to lukewarm reviews and impressions, so probably better to stick to the classic ZERO and One?

This is the reason I've wanted the Oxygen and not the Origin. The smoothed over treble and lack of treble energy has been one of the cons on most impressions and reviews, and as most know about me, that's not something I dig, unless it's peek a boo style treble like the Explorer, Bunny, Cadenza 4, or something like the Defiant (which all have a degree of energy that belies the smoothness/metaness of it.

Hey Disco Threaders! It's the start of a 3 day weekend for most of us in the US and I hope you all have a relaxing and safe holiday! Get some quality time with loved ones and some quiet space for enjoying some tunes. I just published my 82nd review (Head-fi and blog) and it's a doozy. The Astell&Kern x Empire Ears NOVUS is a $5k IEM and the most expensive thing I've reviewed to date! I got the opportunity through the Watercooler Tour program which is super cool. I know this one is not in the typical Disco price range but I did want to share it in case anyone is interested. Don't worry, I'd still choose my DUNU DaVinci over just about everything I've tried so far but this one is damn good! Have a great weekend y'all!
