I won the pair I had for about $550 in the last year. I had resold them within a week. Just not worth it. 

Various deals and discounts happen on these pretty often. I'll post when they show up again. People don't seem to be very interested in these deals though. 

I think the MD are hard to beat right now. With the latest revision of pads they sound truly amazing for that price range. Someone who was testing them now listed their HE-6s for sale, and they get more headtime for me than my HE-6s or HE-500s, due to sound and comfort. Which meet are you headed too?

Mad dogs are that good?? Ultra's honestly are hit or miss depending on who listens to them so I easily see anyone saying that but better than HE-6 or HE-500's is a bit surprising. What is the sound signature like?? I heard its very flat and neutral and doesn't excel in any one area but is still pretty good overall. But to better favored over some of the best cans on the market is a bit of a shocker but again, to each his own but ill have to take a look at them if they're that good

The MD are not better than the he-500's.  They are more comfortable but the He-500 can be made more comfy by getting the HM5 pads from MP4 nation and the headband cushion from amazon.  Then they aren't too far behind.  As far as SQ the he-500 is ahead of the MD's...but my alpha pads are still on the way...so I'll report back after I get them....!

I'm still waiting on the Alpha pads... but sound-wise, and to my ears, I prefer the Signature Pros to my Mad Dogs.

Prices really fluctuate. I posted a ways back the bluetooth version for like $230, and a few days later someone posted them on amazon for like $180 or $200. If you have money ready and are patient, I'd expect to see prices dipping on these.
 
I should note, that's only for black. I believe the silver edition is only sold in Asia, not in the Americas, so you'll be paying a premium for color.

I actually enjoyed my HFI-780s way back when I had them: Hot treble but not overly fatiguing and very detailed. The Sig Pros sounded less hot in the treble, but at that price range, they are easily outdone by other headphones in the price range, and I'd even pick some headphones at a lower price range over them. 
 
Angled pads really changed up the game on these. They are far more neutral, but now are a hint over neutral into warm for mids. I prefer them to my HE-500 most of the time due to comfort and weight, while still providing a compelling sound that is pretty close. I think the frequency response pretty much lines up the new mad dogs with angled pads right on the nose with LCD-2 Rev 2s.
