.....I saw a listing by EE, but it was for "Like-new in box" ... is that the same as "new in box" that I remember them selling for on their website a while back? I don't mind if the box is opened, but new is what I'm looking for.

Also, if I may ask, do you think the D5000 are worth double the price of a $210 D2000? I'm trying to decide between these 2.

Yeah, that's the "New - Open Box" deal. However, if you're gonna go as far as the D5000s, go to $580 for the D7000s (Elec. Expo). Seriously, for that price they're an unbeatable value. Never thought I'd say that about cans over $500, but there it is.

I'm not joking, not even a little, the D7000s are worth it. On top of that, if you have any craft skills at all, you can make them even better, we're talking world class, with a couple of relatively simple and reversible mods.

Thanks for the tip. Saw that a while ago. Like you said lots of bad reviews. All the ones I read were about open box items that were doa. Makes me think they just their .bad returned as new open box.

Yeah, that's why everyone getting their New I Open Box Denons have been 100% happy, and couldn't see any signs of them ever being taken out of the box?

As I mentioned a million times already, my New In Open Box Denons were in the same exact condition as the NEW sealed Denons I bought a year before. Absolutely no signs of them being taken out of the box, much less touched. The cable would be IMPOSSIBLE to put back in factory state, for one thing.

Paranoia... a hell of a thing. :rolleyes:

Generally, by purchasing from an authorized reseller, the shipment of sealed Denons is restricted to the USA. But how is it with the "like new" D7000 from EE?

I just ask a shipment company in US to send my purchase item to my country, so technically when i buy, it is not internatinal shipment.

I have the D7000 and have owned the D2000 - I think they are very similar...  The D5000 was too bassy for my tastes (I prefered the D2000).  The D7000s are a bit smoother and cosmetically nicer but if you like the D2000 you're not missing much IMO...

First I think the D2000 are the sweet spot for sound & value--most especially in the low $200's.  The D7000's are said to be a straight improvement of the D2000.  If you love your D2000 (like I do), the D7000 is probably the next logical step.  The D5000's are reported to have a bit different sound signature than the other two--including being less neutral.

I definitely agree with this. I've come to the conclusion that there's nothing worth 'upgrading' to outside of my HD580s that is under the LCD2/HD800 range.

Yes, shippings cost, taxes and mail forwarding services definitely reduce the savings.
But it also depends on the latest currency conversion and the item price in your country.
 
The street price for a D7000 from an authorized reseller in Germany should be around 1200$ (900€). Thats quite a difference from the price at EE.

I just got $29 off a pair of sennheiser headphones. ~170.99 for HD25-1ii. 
They are beautiful by the way. I love them, I was worried they would squeeze my melon head, no problems at all.
