Yes, but Carlsan indicated that he owns the AKG Anniversary Edition headphones.

Oops, forgot the <sarcasm> tag. The AKG K702 anniversary thread has become a one man hype train :) I think Carlsan makes a really good point, and since this is the deals thread, Carlan's point is a little more valid since most of us are all about the performance/price.

SPEAKING OF DEALS:
Q701 in beautiful, smooth, regal neon green dipping below the $190 mark on amazon

Buy this and the Schiit Magni and Modi or ODAC and O2, come in under the same price as the K702 anniversary. That's price/performance!

The person that posts every day about how amazing their headphones are, and then turns in to a high school drama queen addressing their "haters" anytime someone disagrees. Glad we're on the same page haha

Amazon Warehouse Deals are used items. Lowest price for new Q701 on Amazon is ~$230.

Sorry! I thought most people knew those amazon deals were that way now. "Like new" is usually a brand new item with a cosmetic issue to the retail box. I emphasize usually, because not always. In these cases, the headphones are still brand new and totally unused.

I had the regular edition of the  K701 and K702 several years ago and sold them as I thought they were too bass light.

How big is the difference in bass between the K701 and the Q701?

Doing some quick A/B testing, to confirm what I remember, Maybe the Q701 having 95% of the K701 Anniversary is really closer to 80-90%. There are obvious differences when one does A/B testing with the same music. I think that some of the hype on the anni forums is well grounded.

The anni K701have better soundstage, and better bass and bottom end in general. I wouldn't call them bass heavy, but bass sufficient with a fuller body in general than the Q701.
The Q701 don't have as much bass or bottom end, but do have enough to well represent the music, unlike the original K701 and K702, which I thought did not.
The Anniversary have more detail but not by much, sound stage is fuller on the 701 Anniversary.  The Q701 does everything perfectly fine for a $200 headphone. The Q701 Anniversary do things better, as one would expect from a headphone that costs twice as much. Ten percent better, easily, perhaps even 20% better.

Is it a $200 or $300 difference? Isn't that the question we always ask ourselves when we buy audio equipment?

Okay, back to the deals...

Bottom line is that, used or "like new", the Q701 has been an everyday great bargain in the U.S. for some time.

And I certainly agree!

Let me add, if you want real nice SQ and full bass, plus detail, without sacrificing mids, and nice highs to boot, nothing beats the new Audio Technica AD900x at its current price point of about $175 on Amazon Japan.
Add an addtional $20-25 for shipping through the Tenso shipping service, then you have a $200 headphone that is as good as any $400 headphone on the US market.

You can read all about it here. There are plenty of posts on the later pages of this thread about the AD900x.
