a US seller with 99.9% positive feedback is selling an open box FiiO E9 for $85 free shipping. Very nice entry level desktop amp for that price..

EDIT: never mind, you can get them new for $88 bucks at Amazon. Been a while since I looked at these...

So how does the E9 and the E17 combination work? What is the benefit of owning both?

when connected to the top of the E9, the E7 and E17 both act as a stand alone DAC. The benefit, obviously, is that you will have a dedicated digital-to-analogue converter in addition to a decent amp

and then you have a decent amp (E17) when on the go.

Yeah but isn't the e17 a descent amp already on its own? The only real benefit I see is that you are getting additional amplification.

it's decent, but it depends on your needs, what headphones you are driving, the source of your music, etc.

Using the 20% discount code FALLHP when checking out knocks the price of Beyerdynamic DT 1350s down to only $239.20 at www.sonicelectronix.com.

I've never seen them that low. I paid $254 on Black Friday, elsewhere.  Even in Jude's Head-Fi TV #4 review of the DT 1350 he mentions that these are seldom discounted.

The 20% discount code is good for other products, too, of course.

And Sonic Electronix is []=USA&user_distributors_pi2[country_filter][]=0&submit_ie=1&user_distributors_pi2[submit]=Find]a Beyerdynamic-authorized reseller!

The E17's would (should) be better with headphones under 50-Ohms, then the E9/E09K.
As the E9/E09K have a 10-Ohm impedance and the E17's is only .5-ohm impedance.

Any thoughts on whether it would be worthwhile to upgrade my old HD650's with a pair of the newer drivers for ~$100? Thanks!

Are you sure the drivers Senn sends you are the newer drivers? Do you have the black drivers? I've heard there are subtle differences between the black HD650 and the newer silver driver versions but I haven't listened to the old version so I can't steer you one direction or the other.
