Awesome.  Can someone convince me that after buying the Brainwavz R1, Etymotic H5, Sony V6, Denon D310, Brainwahz HM3, and the M50's in the past 48 hours that I don't need to buy these.... or perhaps... convince me to buy these because I need them as well.

hahaha.. you will survive if you didn't bought all of them. You can still use stock earpiece from any phone or mp3 player that you have.  :)

It is $392 at the end of the day.... the $50 gift card might as well be cash since I get all my food and toilet paper from Amazon.

It's not worth $392??? The only cans in the range I thought to consider were the HE-400 -- used like new $350 on Amazon. But I have a feeling I'll want the 650s and those both in my permanent collection one day, so getting the HD650s while I have the chance at sub-$500 price.

Amazon does food? That's new.

The M80s are up to 156 and 199 back on Amazon now....

They have been doing dry goods and liquids for a long time.  Frozen and refrigerated stuff is available around their HQs in Seattle, and they are testing same day delivery in some markets... :)

Okay, back on subject.

Starting to regret making that impulsive buy on the sennheiserusa site for the HD650.
Talked myself into it saying that I could make them into nice gifts, but on a second thought most family/friends wouldn't appreciate the amping requirements.

I guess i'll see how I feel about it when it arrives.

I'd like to know what you consider to be better for $440.

For awhile the K701 and the HD650 were kind of a head-to-head fight with the DT880 tagging along. Albeit, most people preferred the HD650, the K701 was considered a near equal. Keep in mind, this is when the HD650 were about $50 more expensive than the K701. I guess I've never seen the HD650 as an over $300 can. I prefer the sound of the Q701 to the HD650, and think the HE-400 really knock out the HD650 in many many ways. I do like the HD650 and think they sound awesome, but once you start bumping the price higher, there's a lot more competition.

For those of you who jumped on the Matrix M-Stage Massdrop deal, you should've received an email by now saying:

Here’s a recap of what’s happened so far. We placed our order with Matrix Electronics after the buy closed. Upon receiving such a large order, they informed us they would have to start a new production run to fulfill your order (Awesome!).

According to our contact at Matrix, production should finish within the next two weeks. At that point they will ship them to our fulfillment center in Maryland. Once the units reach our fulfillment center they will be repackaged and shipped out to you within one business day.

So... they will maybe, possibly ship in two weeks. Looks like we're looking at almost three weeks before receiving them.

This worries the heck out of me... I've been dreaming of HD650 for almost a year, ... and even can't afford it but am getting anyway. I am expecting it to blow my AH-D2000, HD598, and DT990 out of the water. :/

Sorry but that's not going to happen, the HD650s are good but not that good.

I think you can safely relax. I have heard at least the 598 and the 650's kill them! I can't speak to the others personally, but it was my choice after more than a month of research, and now they have arrived, I don't have any reservations. I would like the HE400's as they are said to be of comparable quality for sound, but emphasize some other parts of the music and are more exciting, which I'd like to try for reference. I tried a number of ~1000 headphones and I still overall preferred the 650.
