This site is really cool. They're doing the Bottlehead Crack kit buy, too.

Hi guys!

This site does group buys on request. Right now they are running one for the beyer DT990s, all impedances are included. Lowest price I've ever seen from an actual store. You've gotta make an account but other than that its not too bad.

Can't get on through link provided without some kind of sign up process, even to look.  That rubs me the wrong way.

Agreed.  And it looks like, unless you want something other than the 990pro 250 ohm, you're better off going through Amazon, where they're around $200.

Speaking of the Beyers, I posted this in another thread, but I am considering the 770 or the 880, I'd like something with some bass depth to it, so I don't want a completely open can.  Are the 880 worth the extra coin?  Seems like they can be had for around $220, where the 770 are in the $160 range (I'd prefer the 80 ohm, since I'll be running them off an e5 for now).

I love my 880s (600). They have enough bass and punch for me. I got mine for $150 as a showroom model. I've never heard the 770 or the 990.

The "semi-open" thing concerns me a little, especially since I won't be driving them with a powerful amp.  I want something that's going to be detailed and accurate but without giving up the low-end thump.  When I started this quest, I was strongly leaning toward the ATH M-50, but when I listened to them, I didn't find them as comfortable as I'd like (have the M-35, and those get a little uncomfortable too), and thought the bass was a bit on the boomy side.

Would definitely bite on the 880 at $150, but right now it looks like most places have them for north of $200.

This seller has refurb 770 pro80 for $120, but I'm not sure how confident I am in their refurb process.

Yes--getting the former Beyer flagship, the DT 880, would be quite a buy.

Yea, I've been thinking about one for a while and those prices are wicked.

Wow! I might jump on a Bottlehead kit at that lower price....

If you're in, I'll buy as well. The both of us going in would put the buy on and things can get rolling.

This massdrop thing could work out very well for this deal thread...and be addicting.

I hope their interest in audio continues! I can think of a few things I'd be interested in a group buy in.
