@skeeder Thanks! Noob here who has been searching for "the pair." Went with these as I was looking at much more expensive models but figure this is a better place to start. I got addicted when I first heard my brother's HD598 and am excited to hear the differences between those and these.

No problem!  I've been looking for them too.

If only I could justify it to the wife....

Sennheiser and AKG sound very different...its a fun comparison!

ATH-CKM50 back at $25....I have these and the turbines, I thinks the AT's are more accurate with good bass as well

Yes, excited about that. I avoided the hd-25's just because I wanted to hear a different sound from the sennheisers. Also the look and feel will be interesting to compare.

As an aside, I had purchased but subsequently returned a pair of beyerdynamic dt1350's because the comfort just wasn't satisfactory (and due to a slight cosmetic issue with the pair itself). However, I found the clarity from the dt1350's to be quite amazing along with the bass extension - some deep bass tones I never noticed before in some songs.

I am excited to give the akg sound a try.

Do they call it the ATH-CKM50 because it is sonically similar to the ATH-M50?

And those turbines are a great deal. They are one of my favorite ~$100 IEMs.

The photo is for the K240 studio, according to the AKG website.  The 240 MK II headphones don't have the gold trim.  Also, the K240 studio doesn't come with 2 earpads and 2 cables.  The musician's friend website, under specs, lists the earpads & cable extras.  So, do they just have the wrong photo?

Just snagged a new pair of Denon D2000s for $276.99 off Amazon

I went with some random reseller (Infinity Books or something) with only a few reviews but since they were all positive I decided to take a chance. Certainly paid off! Thought I'd share, in case any of you weren't happy paying $350 for cans that apparently were once available for <$215.

Can't you call in at J&R and get it at that price everyday (~200-215)? They are an authorized reseller as well.

Yeah, most people end up getting them for ~$250 from J&R when they call in.  You can also occasionally get the open box ones from Electronics Expo for $200.

I remember less then a year ago (last feb. to be exact) I called J&R and got my D2000 for $187.  I guess it's luck of the draw on which customer service rep you get and how their day is going because there were others posting that they tried to get the same deal but the rep's they spoke with would only go to 200-195.  Now if I could only remember what the reps. name was that I was talking too that day.
