gerelmx1986: You have to install the latest, unofficial release of WalkmanOne CFW that @nc8000 has sent you. Otherwise there is no way how you could get those new regions working. Period.
OK, thank you I already uninstall the previous Walmart one from my W and one that was the 29.05 version. I am back at stock 3.02. Let's see I am waiting for the data was to be created before connecting to the computer.

Yes it was the wrong version I had sent him

@Diet Kokaine I didn't like the suggestions you told me the version one of the plus mode has very intimate sounds

My 1A is modded very differently than the Nayparm ones.
So my settings will not work for most people it seems like.

I can't seem to get comfortable with any of the plus versions or alternate DAC settings.

One of my teachers used to say "Simplicity of the preparation, yields the complexity of results. "

Bright with Region J. I'm sticking with this.
Done tinkering.

This is exactly the conclusion I came to today...and reverted back to stock Sony 3.02. I guess those guys knew exactly what they were doing after all 😉

PS. My WM1Z is not modded, and Bright was an absolute no-no with IER-Z1R (unless you hate bass, in which case, go for it!)

Yes, I like bright with J or also J3 or zev but with plus motion to an alternate DAC.
Also works for me WM1z on GTA three and also with plus version two and alternate the ACz

I too want back to stock 3.02 Region U on my WM1Z. The 1Z has so much more detail that with my Solaris SE I have to use a OCC copper cable as an OCC Silver cable is too much on the top end and not enough on the low end.

However with the Cascade headphone an OCC copper cable provides the best balance of low and high ends. I need to compare with an OCC silver cable to see if the top end is too much like with the Solaris SE IEM.

Bit of a Frankenstein honestly 😅

Works well though 😆

@Lookout57 The headphones that I'm using are easy on the treble, so Bright is a good match.
Bass I think on this tuning is extremely accurate. That's a preference though..

I think the Plus versions and Alternate DAC for me are not an option that I can live with. I don't exactly know what they're doing, but something is off. I just cannot get comfortable.

I prefer both Bright and WM1Z tunings with them switched off.

This is the 1st time I'm actually enjoying the WM1Z tuning. I don't think I've ever tried it without Plus version being turned on. The timbre is a lot richer than Bright. Stage is deeper on this tuning. It's surprisingly wide as well, almost sneaks up on you. Bright in comparison is a flatter type of wide.
Mids are sooo smooth.
This is very nice. Most importantly...No fatigue. It's effortless resolution, nothing sounds out of place or stretched out.

If I was to describe these 2 tunings in speaker terms, the WM1Z tuning would be like having copper foil capacitors in your speaker crossover, and the DMP-Z1 would be like having silver ones. How Sony is doing this via just firmware? I am, at a complete loss to explain.

ADD: After listening to the WM1Z tuning all day. Region U is where I'm calling it.

I'm sick and tired of trying new settings. WM1Z (U) Everything else normal.

Sorry for the rant. I'm figuring this out in real time 🙏🙏🙏

...and I'm back on Walkman One. MX3, WM1Z profile. Why fix what's not broken. If you want to steer away from the original sound, by all means that's what the other options are there for. As a purist I keep going back to what Sony intended, but with the added benefits of @MrWalkman's feature tweaks.

If one likes the WM1A as is, what benefit is it with the Walkman One that is worth trying out?

You can try out the DMP-Z1 and WM1Z tuning to see which one you prefer. You can always roll back to the 1A tuning if you decide to do so. This will also let you change your regions, so you can further tune the current 1A sound you like.

MX3 is a little too hot for me. Sounds good, but I don't think I can listen to it long term. U has the resolution without the fatigue on my gear.

I'm going to give that a try, thanks for the tip.

Update: Not gonna lie, I think U indeed shaves off some of the upper midrange shout I was struggling with the past day or so with Z1R. Kudos man!

I listened last night to the Cascade with my DHC Clone Silver no split balanced and am ready to compare it to my DHC Complement C no split balanced.

The OCC copper Complement C is a amazing cable that has a nice balanced sound. Being that it's copper, the bass has more weight and slam compare to the OCC silver Clone Silver. What the Clone Silver brings is better details and a larger sound stage. The Clone Silver doesn't have the bass weight and slam but has more details on the actual bass notes. I didn't hear any harshness or overall excessive brightness with the Clone Silver. So depending on my mood I have a cable for rocking out with bass, the Complement C or going for details and sound stage with the Clone Silver

So with my Complement C and Clone Silver for my IEMs and Headphones, the Sony stock 3.02 region U is the end game for me on the WM1Z.

WM1Z (U) sounds soooo sweet. Like honey
It's my end game as well.

Quick update. U ended up being a bit fatiguing as well. So I moved over to CEV. I'm staying here for good. This sound is everything that I could ask out of a portable player.

Extremely satisfied 😌
