He's just insulting you.
I get that part. I was asking how he figures that putting lube on a connector that sometimes has gold plating specifically to improve contact conductivity will have no impact.

Congrats!

If you're not blown away after 2 h of listening, then don't bother with burning in, as it's not gonna change that.
What I would be nervous about is fit and that's where you should really focus your attention: finding a good, deep, comfortable fit.

Almost 1 year later I'm still completelly satisfied with the IER-Z1R.

Hey guys, I’ve just upgraded my Shure SE846 to the IER-Z1R and am amazed at how good they sound. I was looking for a pair of over ear headphones and somehow ended up with these instead, lol. I’m running them with a Chord Hugo 2 as my semi-portable music solution and they seem to pair together very well. I didn’t get on too well with the supplied ear tips so am currently using Comply foam tips which allow me to get them inserted deeply in my ears but over time they work themselves loose and I have to gently push them back in every 30 - 60 minutes. Anyone else had this issue?

If you are useing tips without wax guard you can try to turn them round with the widest part to the front, then they tend to stay in better. Personally I use the Final E tips

I had all these problems with insecure and painful insertion in ear. All of this was ended when I switched to Fiio cable rather than Sony stock. The over ear preform on Sony cable plus the long plug body at the MMCX caused the iem to be pulled out of my ear. See my earlier posts.

Think I might be sending these babies back. They sound awesome but definitely not the sound I thought it was gonna be for $1600. Guess I’ll just get another pair of Z5’s
Thanks for that info.
