Yes I quickly realised that the ex1000 is (for me at least) the greatest Iem ever made. So as soon as I learned that they had been discontinued I immediately bought a second pair^^
I also wanna add that I would trade 5 pairs of the ier-z1r for 1 pair of the ex1000, that's how much I love them. They are so unique that I really think most people have no idea what they are capable of
You need to tell us more, esp how ex1000 is compared to z1r. It is irresponsible to drop a bomb like that. I need to know what my ex1000 is capable of!
The z1r is a very very good iem, no question about it. But the general fit is absolutely horrible! I can last about 1 hour before my ears start hurting... with the ex1000 I can listen all day and not even know they're there^^

Oh man... I don`t really know how to put it into words.. I`m just a regular guy who likes good sound and have no technical knowlege as such.
I guess the best way of explaining it is the sound signature of the EX1000. They are tuned in such a uniqe way and the FUN factor because of this is amazing^^
Imagine if you have an English test at school. If you got every question right that would be the ier-z1r. It`s tuned to perfection and the soundstage is beyond huge!
But I don`t find them FUN to listen to. Combine that with the horrible fit....

I am reporting back after another round of burning in.
This time I maxed out the volume on my Sony zx1 (15mW single ended output, so it isn't much around 120dB) to run the ex1000 for 20 hours. The sibilance had again reduced by a significant amount.
I know this is not my imagination because I used a song that I found most sibilant on the ex1000 as a control. On this song basically every 10 second there is a sibilance peak and the song is basically not listenable!
Compared to the state before run-in the sibilance had reduced very significantly, close to 90% of the nasty peak is gone. I can still hear the where the peak were but they are no longer at a annoying volume/level
I have had my EX1000 for a long time and am revisiting to "refreshen" for lack of a better term. As with most earbuds, seal is important and I have several generic tips I have been messing with, wresting really. Don't want foam, but am curious what folks are using.
