I’d highly recommend any EX1000 owners here to check out the Lotoo Paw S1 usb dac/amp. I got one today and started testing it with a few different monitors, and I’m blown away at how good the EX1K sounds out of this little device.
It has several preset EQ’s and there’s one called “headphone” that just sounds magnificent with the EX1K
I can’t say whether the adapter changes the sound as there is no way I can test how the cable sounds with the IEM without the adapter in the first place. Compare to the stock cable re-terminated with 4.4, the Yatonos give better clarity and larger and more airy stage. It’s a step up but seems to be brighter than stock cable. Next cable I’ll be testing will be the 1960s 4 wire which is prob one of the most musical cables I’ve tested.
For the R side, make the inner side (with the lettering) to face you, and turn clockwise.
For the L side, make the outer curvature with the vent face towards you, and turn clockwise. If using your fingers don't work, try wrapping a small cloth around the screw and use a pair of pliers. Hope this helps.
In my honest opinion, the connectors on the stock cables have the best build and smoothest play when inserting/removing the cables from them. The aftermarket ones floating around the net, they do work but they break easily from my experience so be gentle.
Regarding the cables themselves, 7n ofc, lightweight, and not stiff so nothing to complain about for me. The earhooks have a weird shape at first but they'll flow around your ears with enough use. But if you still want to go balanced with these and dont mind sacrifising the stock cable, another method which i personally use is to reterminate the 3.5mm jack with one of those 2.5/3.5/4.4 adapters on aliexpress which is a knockoff of the dita awesome plug. A word of caution is that the screw thread is plastic so there's a chance that it may break.
I just bought an used EX1000 and new 4.4mm balanced cable with MMCX adaptor , but I unable to unscrewed the left side (silver) IEM , try turn clockwise/anticlockwise, it is stuck, which is the correct direction (CW or CCW) to unscrew? Do you guys face similar issue and how to solve the issue ?
Edit: just read the above post.
Probably I will use 3.5mm female to 4.4mm male adaptor , is it ok, short circuit problem ?
Im assuming that's for your 4.4mm balanced cable to connect to a single ended output source? If it is, unbalanced to balanced is always ok, as long as it's not the other way round
It should work, but you have that recessed area not being flush with the mmcx connector. Might be an eyesore for some dudes with ocd.
The newly released Fiio cables with modular jacks are a good alternative, the connectors sit flush and it's angled abit, which is better in this situation compared to straight mmcx plugs.
I'm really into the modular jacks concept if it isn't obvious enough already.

It's balanced source of Sony WM1Z 4.4mm, can this DD adaptor works 4.4mm male and 3.5mm female ? If can't, why this manufacturer produces this adaptor ?
Since I unable to change the EX1000 cable with 3.5mm jack.

Thanks for highlighting and clear my doubt, there's no mention from the seller's product page, and no response from them yet as i am writing
Look like I still need to find way to unscrew the IEM to replace stocked cable with new 4.4mm balanced cable. Any hints than plier without damaging the plastic thread are appreciated. No problem on right (red) side though.
I mean the mmcx adapters themselves sit flush. It's the sony cables that wont sit flush.
The red and grey parts will still be showing when connected due to it having different circumference sizes than the silver housing it's in, and the mmcx adapter it will be connected to. It's abit different to typical mmcx jacks as it's specifically designed to sit flush in the sony xba/ier bodies which have a recessed part for those cables. I tried it before and it somehow doesn't look good to me even though it works.
Well you might have figured out now, Sony has always designed stuff that works best only in their ecosystem
