Stax SR-207 and ATH-MSR7 added. Decided to skip the SR-404 and save up for an SR-L700. Finding a spot for the SR-207 was difficult as their presentation is so different to the rest.
1. Audeze LCD-XC - best performance across the frequency spectrum
2. Audeze LCD-2 (pre-fazor) - best bass, though treble is recessed
3. HifiMan HE-500 - accented treble which gives air to acoustic instruments
4. Stax SR-207 - faster than the rest and euphonic, not enough bass to feel rounded and needed an EQ to tame the mids
5. HifiMan HE-5 LE - similar to HE-500, but bass is less refined
6. ATH-MSR7 - detailed and respond well to a bass boost for EDM, slightly aggressive treble
7. Grado GS1000 - harsh treble, but large soundstage for classical
8. Sony MDR-ZX770BT & MDR-ZX770AP - natural & balanced sound, though treble is the weakpoint
9. Sony MDR-10RC - detailed treble, lacking bass
10. AKG K451 - pleasant mid-bass rich signature
11. AKG K430MKII - less refined version of K451
12. Roland RH-A30 - monitor presentation, but lacking detail for professional use
13. Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear - lacks dynamics
14. Camen CT-1000 - fun signature, but lacking detail
15. Sony XB950BT - sub-bass, but at the expense of everything else

1) LCD4 200ohm : Ever since my cable upgrade, these are my babies. Warm, lush and dat creamy midrange. Not to mention non fatiguing to my ears, but fatiguing to my neck. But the sound makes up for the pain. For my sonic preferences, i love these the most.
2) Abyss AB-1266 : Replaced my TH900s as a 'fun' can. Most impressive headphone ive ever heard. Sadly too picky with tracks and fatiguing too(for me). Nevertheless if i ever wanna have a quick listening session these are my go to
3) HE1000 V1 : Replaced my beloved LCD3F with these due to reliability issues. Somewhat like the 3Fs but without the forward and liquid midrange. Really comfortable, and sounds soothing. Currently my bedtime headphone.
4) HD800 S : For orchestral tracks and live performances that my planars just cant execute. I guess its just personal preferences. However, these havent been getting lots of headtime lately due to my current choice of tracks.

More dynamic, tactile, no cup resonance, bigger imaging, more audible macro and micro detail, no weird dips in the lower and upper mids, more comfortable earpads, etc. It's basically an upgrade to the DT 1770(a sound signature I love) in all ways including musicality.

They are definitely worth a listen, especially if you enjoyed the DT 1770 but want more. It's basically a DT 1770 that's been allowed to breath with different earcup dampening thus why they sound so similar, I already looked inside the earcups. Drivers look the same to me. Have the same dampening cap and rubber washer(to connect driver to housing for vibration control).
DT 1990(holes in the earcups basically cover the diameter of the driver).
They are incredibly similar. It's fascinating that there are so many improvements with what looks like an identical driver. The DT 1990 is now top of my 'must try' list as leakage/isolation isn't a factor.

Yes they are, well the other Beyers that share similar designs are all extremely similar inside, except the DT 100 and DT 150 which have extremely different drivers in them. Also note there is already two versions of the DT 1990, I have the newer one. One that come with the new pads and the old pads, the amount of holes and possibly foam in them is different so I assume they sound different. My post in the DT 1990 thread shows the differences. I also have a DT 1770 from the bad batch so my DT 1770(#377 I believe) may not sound as good as others. Well half the problems with many headphones is simply dampening, many excellent drivers are often unrealized. I will swap the drivers eventually to see if they are the same since they are modular, I wouldn't be surprised if one pair sounds better of course due to variation(some headphones of the same model just sound better than others) but if they are very similar, I can conclude if they are the same or not.
