Glad to hear your treble seems to be settling down, I was just curious to how you made out. I like my treble, and I'm hoping to gain a bit more in the higher frequencies with the "e" series. Don't get me wrong, mine sound fantastic, but sometimes the highs/detail are too mellow so...
I can't wait to hear their differences!
:beerchug:

I would expect the highs of the PS1000e will be MORE mellow, not less, than those of the PS1000. Let's see....

If by "mellow" you mean less treble stridency? Then I agree with that...but to my ears, the differences between the PS1000 and PS1000e were quite small...they both sound like Grado's and have that great "attack" we've come to enjoy!

As I mentioned, they are still voiced very closely with some "refinements" on the "e" version...that's all. So I guess my answer is: no.
thanks.

The reason I brought this up is I had the Gs1ki and Gs1ke for some time. I ended up selling my Gs1ki, since the Gs1ke preform better imo. Looking back though, I remember having more fun listening sessions with the i than the e. The bad thing though is that the Gs1ke made the flaws in the Gs1ki painfully obvious so it was hard to go back to them. So I've had my reservations about trying out the ps1000e for fear of messing with a good thing I have going with the ps1000. ;)

...but then again, what about the things that could be gained? :D

.

As you know, I've had the chance to compare the PS1ke with my PS1k, and even though I ended up preferring the PS1k, overall,  there were some aspects of e's sound that I liked.

The first thing that I noticed, is that the PS1ke are more sensitive, meaning that they play louder at the same volume setting.

The PS1ke's bass is just as well defined, but it's a bit deeper than the PS1k's.

The mids sounded similar, but slightly more recessed with the PS1ke.

The PS1ke's soundstage was a tad wider.

As far as treble goes. You mentioned that you would like for the PS1ke to have a bit more of it. Well, I think that the PS1ke has slightly less treble extension, and I do mean slightly! In my opinion, all else being equal, a larger driver will give you deeper bass, and less treble. Since the PS1ke has larger drivers, this result is not surprising.

Finally, the fact that my smallish ears were touching the drivers, was definately the deal breaker for me.

You're one of the few Jedis who's opinion I trust most, so I can't wait to read your opinion.

If by ''stridency'' you mean harsh, than I disagree with that, because to my ears,  my PS1k don't sound ''strident''.

I do agree that the différences, altough noticables, are pretty small. In my opinion, there are lot more similarities than there are différences, between these two.

Don't forget M.H. that we both have different sound systems, tastes, and quite possibly, hearing accuity, so, if we take these things into consideration, I think that our opinions aren't that par afart....far apart, sorry!

Not harsh per say...but more sizzly...ended up making the PS1000's mids a bit more recessed than on the "e" version.

My GS-X Mk2 has been the best "microscope" into a headphone's sound that I've come across by a good margin...so it could very well end up being our upfront gear? Looks like we both agree on the differences being pretty small....unlike the RS1e and RS1i.

By the way, I watched Planet Earth on Netflix the other day, And the sound was AMAZING. I really recommend trying to watch it with the PS1ke, As it is an out of body experience. The breathtaking views, The amazing orchestral music (The composer is quite a talent), And the sounds of nature are amazing.
Give it a shot, Everyone!

I used the Es with Whiplash and Hanz Zimmer soundtrack to that alien wormhole movie.  I also listened to my kid playing the electronic drumkit.  I don't have words...

Well I'm still going through with the loaner program just to hear for myself. I'm starting to wonder if my PS1K is losing their higher frequencies/detail like my 325is did?

I certainly wouldn't say the 325s (any version) had more higher frequency details...just more higher frequency...too much IMO as these are my least favourite Grados (along with sadly the RS1e). But this is for opposite reasons...one has too much up top, and the other much too little.
