Thanks. I really hope the treble will be more like the last pair. So far i let it play for about 3 hours. Maybe in a few days it will improve.
I am still afraid that the treble will remain harsh to be honest..

I believe in burn in simply because, the way I see it, a speaker is a membrane suspended in a magnetic field, that reacts in a pistonic manner, with variable intensity, according to the level of power it recieves from a given amplifier.

That being said, I think that it's effect are usually subtle, so I seriously doubt that the burn in will make enough of a difference, to make your PS1k go from sounding ''harsh'', to sounding sweet.

From my own experience, I have found that with the right recording, I can tell within a few seconds, if the headphones I'm listening to, will be a keeper. Now, I know what you're thinking, and you're right, that is amazing, but the answer is, no, I can't teach you  how I do it, because it's a gift that I've hinherited from my parents. See, I was born in the 60's, and my parents had access to very good stuff...yes, even better than the meds I am under.

I'm sorry if I have bursted your bubble, but I tell it like I hear it. I do hope that after the new drivers are burned in, your going to fall in love with your PS1k again.

To be honest, I've never been a fan of Joe Crocker. However, I really like his sister, Betty, she's not much of a signer, but she sure can bake a mean cupcake.

John...Buddy, you handed me that one on a silver platter. You're making this way too easy for me.

Yeah, it's Joe Cocker, but my work "naughty word" filter made me put the "r" in his name.

I see, well, nevertheless, I couldn't pass it up, heck! for all I know, you might have been disapointed of me if I wouldn't have capitalized on it, I know I would've been, of you.

mentioned this in the fostex th900 thread so thought i might as well here - did some comparisons btw the ps1000 and th900. tho the ps1000 has the sonic advantage of being open backed, the th900 outperformed it in the areas of imaging and bass definition to my ears. the ps1000 suffered from mid-bass bloat as i heard it and for all of its clarity and open presentation, i still give the th900 the edge in definition overall.

the th900 has a slightly drier presentation than the ps1000 as i hear it, so female vocals sounded a little more scratchy - if that's the word. the ps1000 sounded more mellifluous to my ears.

despite the fr graphs, i think these can's sound signatures share quite a lot in common, and if you're a ps1000 fan, then i think there's a fair chance that you'd find the th900 to your liking and vice versa.

TH900 is from Fostex... it is a semi-closed headphone (like a Bushmills), recognized for great audio quality.  I almost bought one as a backup to my Grados for times when I needed better acoustic insulation than the fully=open Grado could provide.

I ended up getting a Beyerdynamic T 5 p, about the same prices ($1000, roughly), but is fully closed (not semi), though it does not have (at least to my listening tests), quite the sound quality of the TH900.  My "logic" was that if I was in a noisy environment, I needed the better sound insulation of the T 5 p than the slightly better sound of the TH900, which (at least in my view) would be lost in the external noise.

fixed lol! assumed you guys would know of it. thanks kayandjohn for explaining. it is a closed can with wooden ear cups that are vented. i see the beyerdynamic t1 as more of a semi-closed/open design. agree that the th900 doesn't offer a lot of isolation from outside noise tho but that's also because of its lack of clamping force.

They're nice, but you can tell right away that they don't exhibit the same level of attention to detail that Grados have. I mean, the fit and finish seems ok at best.

How long is the th900 cable 7', maybe 8'?, while Grados have a 60'' cable. Also I'm sure that the th900's box doesn't use the same high grade cardboard that Grado uses.

Last but certainly not least, most high end Grados come pre nicked and/or pre scratched, so that you won't feel guilty about making the first scratch, and/or nick. Not many company will go to that extent just to save their cutomers some grief.

Seriously though, I have seen these before, and if they sound as good as they look, they must be a treat to listen to.

Congratz.

I'm a car guy, and sometimes, when we talk about a nice, but less than perfect car that looks nice, from a certain distance, we'll refer to it as a 20', or 30' car.

I have learned a long time ago that Grados are 18'' headphones.

Now, while we're on the subject, have you noticed that some women look a lot better from a dist.........nah! forget it, I said too much already, I wouldn't want to offend anybody , especially if it's that time of the mon...see here I go again, damn!, when will I learn to Fhut the Suck Up.

Just a quick note... while the Beyerdynamic T1 is indeed semi closed/open, the Beyerdynamic T 5 p is fully closed.
